distortion in vision

Postby Denver23 » Sun Oct 22, 2017 11:23 am

Hi everyone im 16 and new to this stuff and i just wanted to share my experiences this past 2 months.

Last year during august, i was diagnosed with anxiety and OCD, because i went to the doctor because i was scared that i have schizophrenia, the reason for this is while i was going to sleep i keep thinking of mario, then suddenly a loud sound of mario pops up.. you know... the "tingggggg" sound. After that day after being very anxious all day, i hear a television noise next room but its turned on. It all started there until i came very lightheaded and came to the point where i got depressed because i thought if i get schizophrenia i wouldnt be able to work for my parents when i grow up and no ones gonna take care for them, and it may come to the point that i might hurt them. These thoughts keeps occuring in my head onto the point that i cry. And i get panic attacks everyday. And everynight i hear strange sounds, (it turns out to be our aircondition and airplane outside). These petty sounds induced my anxiety, i became very hyper vigilant the point that i mistake real sounds as hallucinations, and i always make sure that im living "the real world", after 2 weeks i got an increase of floaters and have gotten visual snow and tinitus which really bothers me. I also cant stop researching about schizo which obviously induced my anxiety, the stories at the forums gave me chills and makes me cry. After Having anti depressants and an assurance from my doc. It was gone for 1 year,

until i got scared of my visual snow one night and got very anxious, the hug of my mother calms me down. I got all the symptoms that i got from last year except for light headedness. After termbreak i got this strange visuals of ,vibrating, shakiness, hazyness and wavyness and something moving in my pheripheral, and also the common anxiety visuals such as trails and afterimages, shapes and also spots. but the strangest thing that i had got is there are times that i see parts of my vision as if they are "breathing" or waving, it really freaks me out. My nightmare last year had come back, i just wanna know if you get this kinds of stuff too.

i am positive that i dont get hallucinations, delusions, social withrawal and other symptoms, but these bad thoughts are always lingering in my head. My ultimate concerv is the breathing stuff :(

i will visit my doc next week for assurance(again)

tl:dr
i just wanted to know if anyone of you experienced distortion in vision? like objects expanding, growing or "breathing".
(i also get wavy, vibrating, shaky visions)
im really scared

When my anxiety is worse, my tinnitus gets worse... and I have bad vision, anyway, so I'm always obsessing about things I think I see. Sometimes I think things are moving slowly, if I stare at them, and I'll have worries about hallucinating. I have to remind myself that anxiety can cause a whole bunch of very real things, that are not really harming me....

hey thank you for the reply.

true, especially when my heartbeat is fast i get them visuals. Also double vision and blurry vision is very common with me.

, sometimes i can sense my own heartbeat in my eyeball. super scary, but i also saw a couple of dudes sewing the breathing or the moving things thingy and their pdocs ruled it out as anxiety and depersonalization. i hope i get the same result and not schizo.

Personally, I would get a physical exam ASAP. Things may have changed since last August. Did they take your vital signs then?
Is there a blood pressure monitor around that you could use? These issues could be blood pressure related and may be able to be controlled.
Best of luck to you. :D

I would begin with a physical exam to rule out anything physical first. That is a good place to start.
If you are with your primary physician, tell them what you have told us about what is going on with you.
Blood pressure changes can change the shape of the eye and cause ringing in the ears. If nothing physical is found, they may want to refer you on to further testing.
Please don't think of the worst case scenario or try to self-diagnose this. You should trust a professional opinion. They are the experts and see issues like this daily.
I used to have anxiety that could expand into sheer panic attacks. Fear would just take over my mind and body. It would feel like I was suffocating when in fact, I was hyperventilating (too much air). Then my arms and legs would tingle and fall asleep. I was convinced that I was having a stroke or a heart attack and the panic would just become worse.
I hope that there is a simple and easy treatment plan for you. Let us know! :D

I have always been aware of tinnitus as long as I can remember, reaching back to childhood. Including visual artifacts. I think part of it is being hyper-aware, in my case.

Anxiety definitely makes my tinnitus worse. Disassociation can make things appear strange and unreal to me.

i wouldn't be too worried about being schizophrenic, schizophrenia is a pretty intense disorder and having distorted vision could be a lot of other smaller things :) you might even want to get your eyes checked for glasses. tinnitus is also common and anxiety can cause these things too. when i have a panic/anxiety attack my vision gets wavy and weird, makes me unbalanced
