Constantly active mind with anxiety

Postby kbird » Tue May 09, 2017 4:35 pm

Hi Folks,

It would be really grateful if someone can shed light on what I am going through.

have constant race of thoughts even during sleep, my mind is constantly ruminating over events or things or thoughts not not necessarily connected. I can feel that mind is active, when i wake up i can still feel am waking up with mind running. This has been there for a long time and I am used to.

I also experience anxiety heavily and it disrupts my life to certain extent, which I trying hard to cope with. Due to this anxious and racing mind i have problem of concentration and my memory is very much impaired as well. I am on my thirties, but i really feel i my thoughts and emotions are not that matured enough, wondering if this someone with anxiety feels the same? Can really slow this over active mind, are there any good coping techniques?

I am currently on Setraline and Cloimipramine after depression episode. Medication helped me to some good extent. But I am really worried about my underlying disorder.

Any thoughts and suggestion would be highly appreciable.

Hi kbird,

I moved this to Generalized Anxiety but left a shadow in the OCD forum. My first question would be, did you receive a diagnosis when you were prescribed Sertraline and Clomipramine?

Anxiety and depression often fo hand in hand. I suffer both, along with other things. Beyond meds, the best way I have found to help me with ruminating and other anxiety symptoms is a healthy lifestyle. I know that is going to sound hokey (it did to me for years). Eating properly, exercising, good nights sleep, quiet time (meditation/mindfulness) all contribute to coping with anxiety/depression. If you reverse this - crappy eating, lack of sleep, etc yo will no doubt increase levels of both.

If these meds don't help, talk to your doctor about trying new ones. Lastly, much of the A/D can be caused by issues that a therapist might be able to discover. If you have explored this area, you may want to.

Hi Otter, my psychiatrist said a general term 'Anxiety and depression', but I really wondered if my symptoms meant much more. He also insisted on lifestyle changes.

Mindfulness practice i am very eager to take up, i am yet very late to realize that how mind is so negatively oriented and to large extent of damage anxiety has riddled it.

Thx a lot for sharing the experience, i hope to get some breath in coming time.

take care.
