I belong to a country where anxiety is something that is unheard of in societal circles. I have never been diagnosed with it and when I told the doctors I might have it, they took my word for it. Anyway, anxiety for me was under control for most of my life. It shows only in new environments and pressure situations like an accident, first day of a new place, in front of a pretty girl, interviews, and public speaking etc. I even managed to start debating and public speaking with occasional fallouts.
All that went down the drain about a month ago when I drank a local drink made out of cannabis here called 'bhang' it is quite popular here. I didn't drink much but it must have been quite concentrated. The next thing I know about an hour later my heart goes into overdrive. I am having dry mouth, twitching, sweaty and shaky hands and palpitations. It took two hours to calm down. I waited it out. But I haven't been able to return to normal since then. I didn't feel alright after that.
About two days later I had high blood pressure and the doctor gives me beta blockers. I take them for a few days but they only work for the day I take them. Meanwhile, the blood work is almost clean, the heart echo is normal, so is the colour doppler ultrasound, 24-hour monitor test shows palpitations at times but overall it is normal. It has been a month since then, I have been prescribed clonazepam .5mg to be taken whenever I am feeling too much anxious. I have taken it alternatively for about two weeks and have been off it for 5 days now. It works the night I take it and the day after. But I dont to be continuously on it.
The problem is I am always anxious now. I worry about my salt intake, sleep is erratic, I have occasional muscle fluttering, heaviness around the heart area, headache and pain in the left side, especially the hand. The blood pressure is around 90 to 135 which slightly on the higher side but not extremely high. Not sure what is what and what exactly to do, except to curse the day I took the drink. Anyone with similar experience or have any suggestions ?
