I am afraid...

Postby princenu » Tue Dec 15, 2015 10:15 pm

Hello. I am afraid of something that may sound foolish to you. I would like to tell the whole story. Please help me and tell whether my anxiety is reasonable or not.
Some days ago I used Google to find images of naked women. (I did that, really, sorry but that is the truth) I searched for "naked hipsters" and found a photo of a girl at my age (I am 24). I clicked it and it redirected me to the so-called Young Nudist Americans website. I got afraid in that moment. The word "young" scared me as it sounded like I were watching pedophilia related material. Since that, I can't decide whether police will come or not, whether I have done something bad or not...
Please tell me what you think.

Nothing will happen. Grand jury wouldn't find reasonable grounds for a charge, and it would never make it to a grand jury because what you described is protected under the 1st amendment, as free speech. Cops need a warrant to show up and arrest you, and the only way they can get a warrant is if a grand jury found reasonable cause for a felonious crime.

You can search for young anything, and it's perfectly legal. You didn't specify an age or anything under what is legal. Beyond that, in some states it's perfectly legal for you to view "illegal" images, it's just not legal to download them or distribute them.

You'll be fine.

Thank you. To be honest I am not from Usa. In my country one above 18 is adult. On that page, I didn't see any pictures that show younger people than that. To be honest I only saw one pic I mentioned before that was a girl at my age. I searched Wikipedia for young nudist americans and found that they are a nudist organisation aiming people between 21-35.
But... I am just afraid of the word young and nude in the same context. Could someone confirm that yna is legal and it has nothing to do with neither pedophiles nor porn? I suppose one can't even search for illegal things with google (except game torrents). Right?

No they won't since the girl was over 18. 24 is an adult, which is legal.

Today I have found a new thing (a website and police again) I can be afraid of. I was reading the net, googling, and found Anarchopedia (similar to Wikipedia) which scared me. I spent the whole day googling if it is legal... Can such an encycplopedia be legal?

Yes, it can be legal. I think it would be fine here in the UK for example. [I am NOT a lawyer, this is not legal advice! Just my uninformed opinion.] But if you're in North Korea or China, I think it's probably not legal. Other countries will vary.

Personally, I think it's better. If you aren't sure. To stay away from the site AND from checking if it's legal or not. Checking is a form of feeding the anxiety. It feels like it's going to provide a definite answer. But most subjects have some complexity. There aren't simple black and white answers. And anxiety makes that very hard to deal with. Better not to get into the "argument with yourself" in the first place.
We think too much and feel too little.
More than machinery, we need humanity.
More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness.
