I suffered through severe depression for almost a whole year. It seriously immobilized me to the point that I had to quit my previous job. I had an interview the other day, and I didn't want to disclose that illness. I lied and said I was taking care of a sick family member during that period of time. I told them that it was resolved and I was ready to get back to work. I feel bad, but I really need this job in order to get better. I can't stay depressed forever. I need to be productive. I know depression is classified as a disability, and I was afraid if I told them that, they would not hire me. I don't like lying, but I had to do it. I am qualified for the job, its just the gap. Do you think it was wrong?

I would do the same. I would never disclose a mental illness at an interview since that's shooting yourself in the foot.
what a tangled web we unweave, when we practice to just be
