I believe that when a person has anxiety or panic attacks they have a chemical inbalance. The fact that you didin't want to take the pill your doctor told you to take was causing you anxiety in itself. Therefore it could have been psychological or a reaction to the pill you took. When you have anxiety or panic attacks your body is on hyperalert, in otherwords it's like having high andrenaline but not sometimes all the time. So maybe that pill the doctor gave you increased your andrenaline even farther causing you to have worse anxiety or panic attacks. Then you started having all the symptoms of anxiety like tingling or numbness in the arms or head, panic's etc. About a year and half ago I went through something similar. I started having panic attacks they lasted a week straight, I thought I was dieing. I went to the er multiple times, they said I had mono and gave me prednisone the rest is history the worst bout of anxiety imaginable. My point is that you should be careful of what you put in your body especially if you have a history of anxiety or panic it could make it worse.

panic attacks although unpleasant arent serious and are often inherited
any valium tablet, disolved under the tongue will stop or greatly reduce any panic attack, do try to get some
some such as klonapin wafers are designed to be disolved in the mouth, but dont swallow for a while, these can be carried with you when out and used if a panic attack unexpectedly starts

read up on the fight or flight response which is triggered by a panic attack, it causes numbness, tingling, etc
when panicky, breathe deep and slow, dont tense up or fight back

if you can find an antidepressant med that works for you, it will reduce or stop the panic attacks
rad up about panic disorder on the net
