Anxiety or brain fog??

Postby dertitan2 » Fri Nov 01, 2013 1:46 pm

Not sure if I am posting this in the correct forum, but please read and direct me accordingly...

my wife has been experiencing the following over the past few days...about 3 to 4 times a day, she zones out, she says it feel like there is this fog in her brain, there is apart of her that is aware this is going on, but she is unable to shake it off, she just needs to stay very still, even hold herself very tight, then after a bit of time she feel completely fine, like nothing even happened.

Last night I saw this for myself, she just zoned out and seemed very sleepy, I took her back to the bedroom, and she seemed to fall right asleep, then less than two minutes later, she was up and wide awake, wondering why she was in bed...

I have sent her to her doctor today, but any ideas, suggestions, etc...would be very helpful...

Thanks

i just got a call from my wife, she just left the doctor's office, she actually had an episode just before getting to the office...

she describes this like when the episode hits, it is like she divides into two parts, one part of her is in a heavy fog, blurred, cannot think, cannot process; however, she is still able to drive and her vision is not blurred, just her thoughts or ability to think and process, she also stated that it becomes hard to breathe, but she doesn't get the pounding heart beat like might be experienced in an anxiety attack...one thing that seems to help stop the episode is if she immediately goes out for a run, during the run, shes say it is like a light switch gets turn on, immediately she feels like her brain and body just open up, gets immediate clarity etc..

The doctor increased her dosage of zoloft to 100mg

Thoughts???

the episodes last more than just a few seconds, several minutes long, says she feels like a headache is coming on, pressure along the front side of her head/forehead, pressure along with the foggy feeling, we were just at lunch, had one, I noticed that she just got real still, staring off into space, I asked her was she having one, she could not answer me, after it was over, I asked if she remembered me asking her that and she did, but she said she was just not able to respond

They're not taking any brain scans? MRIs? Cat scans?
I am confused.

I suggest you get a second opinion as soon as you can!

It just sounds odd to me that the doctor is only prescribing an anti-depressant for this issue.

I am no doctor, but I would want more tests done on my actual head/brain or a blood test or SOMETHING, other than an anti-depressant for symptoms such as these.....
