Hi!

Postby Zoey » Wed Jun 22, 2011 10:08 pm

Hi! I'm going by "Zoey" on this forum because I'm afraid my posts in another section might get me in trouble with people I know in real life if they could identify me.

I'm a 20-year-old trans girl and I've been living full-time for two months and it's been going extremely well. Most people tell me they figured I've been presenting for years for some reason. I guess I'm just a perfectionist! But I have seriously never been happier about myself.

Anyway I just wanted to make myself available if anyone wanted to know any experiences of someone who is young and pretty early in transition. I figured I might as well make myself available if I was going to be on a psych forum since my experiences as a trans person might be valuable to someone out there, early and late transitioners alike.

ps In case anyone was wondering, I've been on hormones for 10 and a half months.

Aw, thanks for welcoming me. This place seems kinda inactive, though. :T

Some places on the forum are less active than others...
We have a lot more lurkers than active posters, I think.
But if you have something to discuss, please post.
I'll be happy to chat with you, and if I miss the post, just let me know it's up.

Oh, sure! I'd love to have a little correspondence going on in this topic.

I noticed in another topic you mentioned you didn't really identify with being male or female? How do you identify then? There are many ways people identify aside from "male" or "female" and they all fit under this huge umbrella of "transgender" including genderqueer, androgyne, third gender, etc. I find it interesting that people identify as something else like "genderqueer" since I basically identified that way until I accepted I actually really female on the inside.

So I guess what I'm asking is what's your story?

Well, I'm a biological female...
But I'm not good at being a girl.
I used to be, when I was younger. I liked the dresses and the shoes.
Dress up always fun and everything... but I got lost somehow...
By high school I own mostly guy clothes... jeans and hoodies mostly.

I'd kinda known I was bi since I was younger, so that didn't really come as a shock to me...
But it always felt like a stretch when I tried to be female.
Like I was wearing someone else's skin.
I wanted to be comfortable that way...
I envy lots of women's ability to be really femme and everything...
I'm just not.

I'm not a guy though. I don't feel like one.
Feels just as foreign, it was just more comfy than heels. Ha.
But... it made life hard for a while.

My lack of gender identity and general lack of self mixed into a wonderful need for affection.
So, I had a slut phase... THAT was fun... I'll never live that down. Lol.
I can laugh about it now, usually.

These days, I'm just here. I get by as I get by.
::shrug::
I stopped thinking about it, I guess. It matters less the older I get.
^_^
And that's me.

What is your job, or career? I'm sorry, you may have mentioned this on another thread somewhere but I didn't read all of them.

I'm not employed or anything right now but I'm going to be going to school for film.
