is it gender identity disorder?

Postby rojjb15 » Thu Apr 01, 2010 7:31 am

I'm male and feel attracted to women sexualy have never dated a women or had sex with anyone
I've found myself attracted to my own body I've lost sleep because of it i've cought myself feeling and acting like a women before and had to stop myself out of fear that someone would notice me i never cared for the male ego much in myself and always found a way around thinking and feeling that way if i could without drawing too much attention to myself. Ive always had a very slim build and not much body or facial hair just a very thin patchy beard even after a few weeks of growth thing is if i had the money to do it right i'd probably jump at the chance to be a women in a flash not sure what i can do though......???

Hey dude,

How long has this been going on for, rojjb? I have to perfectly honest and say that it doesn't sound like Gender Identity Disorder. Instead, I see this as a sexual fantasy. Why? - Because I used to imagine being a woman too when I was young, and I got very aroused by thinking this way. In fact, I think that some of my 'best' fantasies have been ones where I was the female, and doing female sex acts on different men. While saying this now, I know definately that I am not homosexual, and am '100%' heterosexual. So, I guess what i'm implying is this: Enjoy the thoughts while they are there in your head and don't fear them in any way. It's not as if you have to share these thoughts with anyone, but - who knows - maybe years down the line you'll be in my position telling someone else not to worry about similar thoughts too!

Do'nt fear the beauty your brain creates.

No problem. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk about anything else. I have spoken to others with GID before and they come across in different ways as you are based on what you've written here.

You ask (I think), "is it gender identity disorder?"

GID (Gender identity disorder) is an entry in the DSM, you are the best
person to assess whether or not you meet the diagnostic criteria.
http://www.behavenet.com/capsules/disor ... riddis.htm

Meeting the diagnostic criteria (or comparable ICD criteria) is required to obtain somatic
treatment under the WPATH HBIGDA-SOC (World Professional Association for
Transgender Heath publishes the Harry Benjamin International Gender
Dysphoria Association Standards of Care document, presently in revision 6).
References: http://www.wpath.org/documents2/socv6.pdf
(Look under Chapter X, Severe GID)
and
http://apps.who.int/classifications/app ... ?gf60.htm+
(look under F64.0 et seq Personality Disorders)

That is all politics, it is not directly a matter of health because the GID diagnosis
is essentially a replacement of the homosexuality diagnosis used to facilitate the
reparative treatment of gay children. As valid psychiatry it is equally bogus, for
transsexualism is just as much a normal human variant as homosexuality. The
psychological damage is entirely political and iatrogenic, mostly a result of the
medical colonization of transsexualism.

Imagine a world where a more balanced view existed between the sexes. I wrote an article that examines the profound impact of gender equality on society. You can read it at

I second that...if you ever find yourself awake at night wondering, "what If I were female" than its a bit more than a sexual fantasy, its not about being gay, its about you and being in the right body. Personaly, I find it insulting that you need a shrink's and M.D's opinion, while knowing nothing about their biases, to be in the right body.

Not particularly a good parable.

One does not have to imagine a world in which everyone is ambidextrous in order to imagine a world in which children are no longer thrashed for exhibiting left-handed penmanship.

So it should be, but is not yet, for transsexualism.
