Sometimes I feel that our cycle of recovery is similar to our cycle of gambling. With gambling, If we keep on playing, playing, playing, eventually we get to that stretch where we lose everything we accumulated and more. Wit recovery, we keep on trying, trying and trying to be gamble-free and eventually we reach that stretch where the urges and irrational thoughts become less frequent and manageable.

I don't know why, but I have a really good feeling about this stretch Ricardo! Lets be mindful of our thoughts and keep this demon at bay!

What you had mentioned Aries is pretty much the truth. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I also feel that I will have a good stretch now. I have kept my part...I have not gambled since 24th August and have this practice of brushing off quickly any thought/temptation of gambling.

3 months of GF on the 23rd November 2022.

Thank you NSR for the lovely and beautiful cake. :D

2 days back, I was feeling a bit down. Guess because of payment which need to be made as a result of my past gambling activities. I sat in the car at a parking lot as it rained.

Yesterday I managed to make the payment. I sat in the car trying to figure out what to do next.
There was the thought of gambling among other no good thoughts.
Somehow I managed to leave the parking lot and headed back home straight (it was raining too) without doing anything. I guess it is that period of time, when you are down and temptation starts to increase.

Am glad that I made it through the day.

I'm glad you did too Ricardo .

One of my most painful yet most triumphant moments came in the same way , sitting in my car in a casino parking lot with my brain screaming at me to go in and gamble . In those minutes ( which felt like hours ) I had never experienced a gambling urge that intense , that compelling . It was terrifying .

I still don't how I scraped up the strength to drive away but I did . It was a turning point for me . No gambling urge since has ever had the intensity of that moment . It felt like a kind of extinction burst from the addiction . I wonder sometimes if others have had that kind of experience in their recovery journey .

I hope you celebrate that victory . It's no small achievement . :D
