I understand your situation NewSunRising and I'm now also in this mode. I don't want to focus on my debt, but on doing the right thing...especially my work and family. Btw, I could be just a few years younger to you, and I'm also thinking of the balance of years I can still continue to work.

The good thing is that my debt is still manageable. And the job I'm doing now gives me the opportunity to earn in the future provided I do it right (with my effort and mind - work smart).

The biggest regret I have in life is actually getting into this whole gambling mess.
But the lesson that I must take back from this is to manage my finances better in the future (without any more stupid and silly gambling relapses).

I'm pretty sure that speaks for all of us ! I still have periods of anger and regret thinking about how much better off I would be if I'd never gotten sucked into gambling . I have to make an effort to let it go or it will seriously ruin my day . Deep breaths and telling myself to focus on my future and not my past usually gets me through those depressing moments .

Yes, I can relate to that...the anger, regret and frustrated feeling.

Nowadays should these thoughts cross my mind, including the thoughts of gambling, I would quickly kill it off, without "entertaining" it. Oh boy, how I wish that gambling was banned worldwide just like this war against narcotics.

That's a win in my book . :D

Do you feel any difference compared to your other periods of recovery ? I remember around the 3 month mark of my final attempt at quitting , I thought " This is it . I think maybe this time I could kick this thing for good ...." . I don't really understand what made me feel that way , I'd tried so many times over the years and always went right back to gambling at the first hint of stress in my life .

I guess I'm totally fed up of gambling. I have a lot of regret wasting those money and years of my life. I'm not going to entertain the thought of gambling should it ever cross my mind anytime especially when I'm stressed out or down.

Great job Ricardo!

I have a good feeling about this stretch. I think this is the one where we see years of gamble free time! I called it here first! We are all rooting for you.

We don't ever want to entertain those thoughts of 'what if' and 'should I'. If you see that your mind swaying in that direction, remember all the effort you put in to reach this point and swat those thoughts away.

I will remember this word "swat" when the thoughts or whispers comes around.
