I'm not thinking about gambling during this period, which is good.

However, I do think back on my stupid losses and they do haunt me some days when I feel low and hopeless about the future.

Fight on, everybody! This too shall pass.

Yes, Timeheals all, I do not have numbers constantly rolling around in my head now. That is good.
Agree decisions made in the past can be haunting. We all like to remember when we got the bear, but in reality the bear got most of us most of the time. Life is its own self!!

The circumstance that led to me quit gambling 5 years ago was simply this :
For one month , I had absolutely no way to gamble no matter how desperately I wanted to . And I desperately wanted to .

I had 30 days of having roughly $2.00 a day to my name ( rent and bills had been paid , food bought and I had exactly one full tank of gas to get to work and back ) . It was stressful , depressing and a massive blessing in disguise . The gambling fog slowly dissipated , the enormity of what I was doing to myself became crystal clear and so did my understanding that this was my last chance to free myself .

For all its misery , that 30 days gave me room to breathe , the opportunity to plan and the nerve to envision the kind of life I wanted for myself .

Our gamble-free time is the most powerful weapon we have in this battle . I hope you make the most of yours .

Stay safe , everyone .

Thanks NSR. Those were powerful words of wisdom for all of us to consider during this period of forced non play. I need to take a hard look at whether I should ever resume.

I have never in a million year thought that one day all casinos will be closed. Most of them are open 24/7, 365 days non stop actions and it is weird to see the empty parking lots when I was out doing some errands.

Life will never be the same again and I hope that this forced quarantine will be a big help for gamblers who are trying to kick this addiction. I now have a lot of free time on my hand since there is no work and trying to have a regular routine. I think a fix time for exercise, sleep and eating is very essential beside reading, movies and other hobbies.

Yes, right out of a science fiction story. However, good time to re-look one's life and how to improve it. My take is our collective future will be much different from the past and will require much adjustment for some of us old folk. If there is no vaccine hard to even see how any table games can come back. I can see a few around a crap table with masks and gloves, but that is not sustainable for the casino business itself. Personally I needed a casino break and am taking advantage of this one to really think about future activity. It is scary to see how much this virus has effected us in just 5 weeks or so economically. Hopefully we can find a way to co-exist with this virus if we find no vaccine.

By the way,
How is everybody spending their time during quarantine?

Personally, I've been doing some form of writing to keep myself busy. I try to exercise every other day too.

I'm still able to work ( safely ) so I haven't had a ton of time to fill up but now that the weather has gotten nice , I'm taking this opportunity to do a serious spring-clean . I'm also lucky enough to have a garden space so the weeds don't stand a chance this year .

Hmm...exercise . I have never been a big exerciser but I used to walk a lot ( like , for hours ) . I really need to start up a fitness routine .

Yes ! This is a great time to get support if your desire to stop gambling has been kick-started by casino closures . Maybe something good can come out of these scary and uncertain times .

Worst thing to happen for me.

Been many years since I last posted.

I’ve battled the addiction on and off but relatively stayed strong.

Last couple weeks I’ve lost at least a couple of thousand online sports and casinos.

So so gutted. Now stuck indoors for weeks with no money and regretting the losses knowing I could have actually really saved instead.

Suck it up mt you are still above ground and you can always get more money. You have to take the bad with the good.

-- Wed May 13, 2020 1:21 pm --

mt a few more words. I have lost much more than that in five hours. You just have to accept it. Bad beat pain is tough I know. You had a lot of "good" time prior and can do it again if you wish. I never got into the internet thing, Thank God, so now am quaranteened from brick and mortar casinos like all of us. I am now on day 67 no gamble and no longer have numbers flashing in my brain every second.
Also, seem to have more money. LOL Hang in there. You will live.
