Relapsed

Postby MTlondon » Tue Jul 31, 2018 10:03 am

awful feeling.

told my partner nearly year ago i'd stop, owned up to everything. lasted a good 9-10 months, owed someone Money from along time ago and didn't really have the money - so ended up going back to gambling for couple weeks to repay and obviously got back in the spiral.

only cost me one months savings - but seriously let down her trust which hurts worse.

still don't feel i have problem and can control it but going to attend first GA meeting next week.

You slipped, but time to steer your ship back on the right path and stay gambling Free.

You do have a problem I'm afraid, and thinking you don't is also a major one.

'' Only a months savings '' is not a good way to look at it. A months savings is actually a fair bit, butalso the progress and discipline you acquire from saving for a month then losing it, additionally is also not a good thing.

We all make mistakes but time to move forward and remain strong.

Yup, I used to tell myself that for YEARS.

I look at my own gambling addiction as if it were child pornography. Meaning even ONE image---let alone 1,000 or 1 million---is crossing the line. Likewise, the FIRST bet, however small or trivial, is unacceptable.

I'm also sorry to hear about the relapse MT .

Like House and FM , I'm going to urge you not to minimize the damage but to view it as proof that this disease will not ever give up trying to regain its hold over you . If you truly could control yur gambling , you wouldn't be here . That idea is simply the addiction , lying to you .

Don't do this for your partner . Do this for you . You deserve a life without chains and you can have that . Stay strong !
