ANOTHER LIE OF THE ADDICTION

Postby 58gambling » Fri Apr 27, 2018 6:54 pm

Just reading through the latest posts, I was reminded of another lie I used to tell myself and I'm sure others have done it as well..........You lose a lot of money and you think that if you could only win it back, you would quit gambling........it's a LIE.....even if you win it back, you won't quit....I've done it before.....what's worse is if you don't win it back, you lose more and more until the losses are just too much to ever regain.....don't lie to yourself, folks......just QUIT!!!

It is definitely a lie, to find an excuse to gamble again. If I am up, I thought that it was my lucky day and bet more till it was all gone. If I am in the right mind and could stop and walk away, I will be back at it again sooner or later.

Boy oh boy..
Saying that I'd stop gambling once I got back to even... what a lie.
I was never fortunate enough to get back to even, but there have been many times where I said that I'd quite once I pay off this credit card. Sure enough, once it did pay it off (borrowing from friends and families), that balance of 0 was too much for me and I would soon max it again. A huge reason to not accept bailout, it just creates greater debt (at least in my case and probably most cases)

Another thing mentioned in another thread was that WINNING is actually detrimental to the addict or potential addict.......because the winning just encourages you to continue and you take it as a validation that you CAN win in the long run, but that's another LIE....my first big win at gambling was about $1100 from an initial investment of $20....it sure turned out to be a curse....
