Yes, yes, yes! Relationships and honesty better meet our needs than addictions.

I totally agree on this. When I quit, I did not look forward at all. This was the only way I could quit. It was not helpful for me to say, "I want to go 30 days without gambling." That strategy never worked.

I just got totally fed up with gambling. And each day I thought about being the most responsible person I could be, and avoiding self-destructive past-times. Day at a time, folks. It works.

That so-called bonus is a hook and they are counting on the fact that you view it as " your " money . By requiring you to make $50K worth of wagers , they stand to make a massive profit off of you for what is probably a pittance for them . Even if you can't lose , you are feeding the addiction by even considering that this is something you have to do . You do NOT have to do this .

so true. friend who relapsed was sucked into MAJOR problems by trying to get the funds out of an online site. talk about a dark world. they have all these rules/requirements/stipulations that you can not see until they initiate them - it is nearly criminal.

you are saving your life by releasing these phantom funds. they are phantom and the cost could be HUGE.

sending you prayers for surrender, acceptance, and peace today

That is brilliant , Degen .

Stay strong - you are gaining strength with every gamble-free day . Take one day at a time - all those little hours of freedom add up fast .

Try to see the positive changes in yourself . In my first week of recovery , I was fighting hard but I was sleeping better . In my second week , I started to make a few healthier decisions in my diet . At the end of my first month , I began to envision and make plans my future for the first time in years .

While few of those plans have yet come to pass and some of them have been abandoned altogether, the simple act of planning something positive and pro-active was very helpful to me .

i am a newbie here so I have so much to learn but one thing did resonate no1. do not take someone's posts personally I know how they feel they want desperately to help. I am open to any advice however personal it may sound.
2. do not beat yourself and do not feel hopeless. I felt like a horrible sinner at first and then read posts where people gambled away voluminous amounts of money and realised that with perseverance and persistence they are slowly in a good place. reading that made me feel infinitely better.
3. please keep coming back in a strange way you do not realize but when you share your pain you are actually giving reserves of hope to someone like myself who feels so despondent and hopeless! life is beautiful and life is worth every breath!
4. someday you will be free of this yoke for now know you just have to train your mind to look at life thru a different lens!
