Alcohol + Gambling, Need Advice Please

Postby LAdude1 » Sun Oct 15, 2017 6:55 pm

29 y/o M here.

Been gambling back and forth for a while (usually 100 dollar a go) however this friday night I ended up losing 1,2k $. (All on slots online/cellphone slots).

This is way to much for me, even though I'm using savings, I'm still very disappointed with myeself. No matter how hard I try to reach a savings goal, I always take two steps back due to gambling.

The times I lose this much is when I'm really drunk, which scares me a lot. It's like i don't give a damn when I'm drunk enough. I mean one day I might lose all my cash this way?

Does this mean I shouldn't drink at all? Or stay 100% away from gambling?

You shouldn't be doing both my friend, There is clearly problems with both, but a recipe for disaster when you drink.

Gambling will always create negative emotions like guilt, disappointment, self loathing etc. Even if you're one that doesn't experience these emotions normally, you certainly will when you gamble. If you experience these emotions when you are in a normal state, then you can bet { pardon the pun } that these feelings will multiply x 1000.

Being from LA you're probably in your 20's I'm assuming. Regardless being from LA and a '' dude '' hehe you'd have that excitement and adrenaline factor in you. My advice would be go and watch the lakers, dodgers, Kings, Rams, take a trip to watch the Chargers and Raiders, 9ers, basically have fun. But don't gamble. Workout, see friends. Hit the beach. Get back to being you, the you that enjoys what he enjoys and your life will prosper.

You can't control gambling man no one can. You can't control drinking too. Only, and only when you realise this and decide for yourself, then that is when you will live a good life and be happy within YOURSELF.

That's where true success and happiness stems from.

When do you want to start that journey? May as well start right now. Because happiness and fun can and will begin right now if you choose it. And only, when you choose it.

Sacrafice. Patience.

I am around the same age as you are. Firstly, get rid of the online betting accounts. There were countless instances (whether high from alcohol or sober) when I would lose a lot of money betting on online sites simply because it was so easy to log in and place bets. Having access to mobile gambling makes it so easy for us to chase our losses and we know all how that usually ends. In misery and deep regret. Secondly, there must be a reason why most physical casinos do not allow drunk patrons into their premises due to state laws; when we are drunk we cannot make proper decisions.

Removing gambling totally from the equation, PLUS minimizing chances of you getting drunk = a happier life. Wishing you luck in your journey to stay gambling free.

Yes this will surely happen if you do not close your online betting accounts. It seems that when you are drunk, you might lose control and proceed to log in into your betting accounts and gamble.

I have lost all my cash due to the endless chasing of losses. I believe that most problem gamblers always go back to gambling because we can never write off our losses. I hope to succeed in this , I am working on it. So I hope you can stop gambling because I sense that you are very upset over this big loss. This is always the beginning to many disasters. Stay strong.
