Gambling! and I need HELP!

Postby LuckyS7evens » Tue Oct 10, 2017 12:57 pm

Okay... So, I admit I have a problem gambling! I am currently using 2 sites to do all my gambling! One of which is a sportsbook that has casino and I am currently down about $4K since the start of this problem! I would be up $1000 and then the next day lose it all plus loose $500 more or so!

So, I realized I had a problem and have spoken with my wife about the situation and now she thinks I have quit but the truth is I haven't!

I find myself thinking about gambling as I fall asleep and first thing when I wake up! HOW CAN I GET OVER THINKING ABOUT IT ALL THE TIME?

Also, currently for the week I am up on one account $650 and down on the other $300! One of my book's is cutting off the casino starting next week so there is the answer to one of the problems! The other book has a limit of $250 per day and I am thinking of texting him and telling him to set the limit to $100 per day but should I try to win my $250 back tomorrow and if I do how do I stop gambling all together!

I had this same problem about 25 years ago and now Im completely broke and divorced. I wish I just packed it in then like I did now to save myself all the trouble. Poker, tables, sports betting, it all ended the same for me. My biggest wins were actually huge losses, even the five-figure ones, as the cycle never ends, unless I just stopped gambling altogether and focused on building a productive life.

I used to be that way, too. I even used to dream about playing blackjack and roulette.

You can stop gambling. Gambling is a way that we numb ourselves. Once you realize that gambling is not about money, but about self-numbing, it is easier to gather the courage to quit. Another thing to realize is that the money won will never be enough, because we are always looking for more wins to affirm our self-worth. So even if we win a million dollars, we would still gamble, to numb ourselves and to get a high. There have been people who have won huge sums and still ended up destitute. I know such a person.

I urge you to get some help. GA is a good start. If you can go one hour without gambling, you can go a lifetime. Forgive yourself your losses, and please do not chase even $1 of a lost bet. Let it go, as you would if you had a some other sort of unexpected life event, such as car repairs or an illness.

Thank you guys for the replies!

I just got married in April and I have always gambled on Sports to make watching in more interesting. I only do $5/10 bets which is affordable! The Casino is really what got me and now that the bookie is cuting it of across the board I think I will be fine!

There is no GA locally that I could attend! I am only down about $3000 at the current time and the casino has been cut off for the week with my $1000 win limit so I think I will be fine there!

Just wanted to get control of it and I think that guy really helped by telling me he was cutting it off!

I don't mind the $50 win/loss per week on Sports Bets it was the other I was concerned about..

We are a young couple that only make about $60,000 per year! If you don't mind how much were you down when you quit?

It's just like everyone says; once you realize your winnings are like "fool's gold", you will see that gambling just a way to waste your money. You lose it fast and furious, you want to win it back fast and furious.....it never ends......when you win, you will not quit.....you just keep the cycle going until you are so deep in the hole you will wish you had quit sooner.....some of us here have been there and we try to tell you not to get any deeper, but it's all up to you in the end....attend a GA meeting....the people there can help you to quit fooling yourself....
