That's not you talking , that's the addiction . It is never going to stop trying to make you feed it . NEVER . It does not want to die . It may allow you to "take a break" in relative peace for a while but rest assured it will not give up and go away without a long hard fight . It bides its time and will come roaring back at random intervals , telling you that " You're doing OK now , you can play a little / with a limit / once a week or month ..." It all BS . It simply needs to be fed to stay alive . It will say anything and everything to get what it needs .
And the whole win - lose - win big - lose everything and more cycle will just repeat itself over and over again . Because the addiction doesn't care if we're winning or losing as long as we just keep playing .
That's what's keeping the addiction alive - the act of gambling , not the money itself . If winning money was all we wanted , we would theoretically be able to stop once we did that . Instead , anything we win simply becomes more to gamble with . The addiction compels us to gamble until every available cent is gone - every.single.time .
For gambling addicts , there is no going back to gambling like normal people do . For some of us , that is a lesson we must learn the hard way .
