I agree on this. There is no value from it to society and it causes enormous suffering. As I have said before on here, it is better to sit on the sidewalk begging for people's change than it is to gamble, if you really want "free" money. That money is truly free and you are not likely to give it back.

I'm not sure on this - gambling for most people is 'fun' , it was for me before my addiction took hold.
It's same as Alcohol which some are addicted to - would you ban that ?

For the record , this has been discussed before with different points of view . While it is an interesting topic , I would prefer that it be continued in its own thread and allow BLLMB to use this one for focusing on his recovery efforts .
