If you just need to get things off your chest you can post them here. You'll also get some good advice
I do wonder why you can't tell your family members though. Is it because if they find out they'll pressure you to quit?

We do not offer online counseling here , but you are free to post and you will get a lot of support and encouragement here .
I remember your story from 4 years ago . I hope you were able to raise the $400 you needed but I'm very sorry to hear you are still gambling .
If you need real-life support , I highly recommend GA . They are an excellent organization and very supportive .

NSR: I find it amazing that you can remember people like this who posted 4 years ago.
On the other hand, I find it kind of a shame and sad that they are still gambling after all this time.

im glad you remember me. why did i continue to gamble? the answer is very simple. if you remember i needed some money back then to pay off a debt and i asked everywhere i could including here for help but no one was willing to help me out. so i turned to gambling again. i think one of the reasons people continue to gamble is because no one helps them when they need it. gambling addicts are chasing their loses but if someone would help them at one time saying...there you go take this sum to cover your losses and quit gambling most will quit. especially at the begining when the sums lost are not that big . i needed 400 dollars then and no one was willing to help me although im sure for a lot people 400 is nothing. but people are so greedy and mean nowadays only care about themselves. today im 1000 dollars debt .where do you think im gonna end up trying to get it back? back to gambling of course....why ? because im stupid but also because no one is willing to help.

Well , the thing is this : bailouts don't help gambling addicts . All it does is convince them that if they ask enough people , someone will make the problem go away . But the problem isn't the money . The problem is that we can't stop gambling .
For the record - no one on this forum is going to respond positively to a statement which is basically saying " I'm still gambling because no one will pay off my gambling debt . "
Believe me , once you stop gambling , the money problems will go away . It will take time and hard work , though . And that's your responsibility .

Gamblers become addicts because no one stops them in the beginning. Any illness can be stopped easily at the begining stage because after that its much harder..i still believe the best way to stop someone from gambling is not to let in too much debt.of course the first persons who should do that are family members but ,like in my case, family members are the last persons i would tell.Instead of helping me they would never let me forget the mistake i made. that is why i tried to seek help from strangers. i know there are a lot of people even on this forum who could help others but they just dont want to do it. if i had money first of all i would never gamble and second i would help someone if i could . people do not realize that noone lives forever, that no matter how much you have in the end it doesnt matter.so if you have more than you need help others . that should be the purpose of every human.

This may be the most bizarre thread I've read, and I think I've read pretty much every recovery from gambling post on the internet. Mookie is saying that the reason that he has a gambling problem is because no one in this forum would hand him $400 four years ago.
If anything, it's a good lesson for the rest of us. If you think that chasing losses is going to solve your problems, you're wrong. As many great supporters here posted on my thread, the key to elimating a gambling debt is to stop gambling. You can't bet out of it. I tried. The debt went from $10k to $20k to $50k to 75k. I hate having 75k in gambling debts. But it could have gone to 100k or $125... to god knows how deep. I'm over 30 days gambling free and not going back. Now I have to dig out of this debt. I don't know how long it will take and I'm furious with myself for being in this position. But one thing I know for certain is that gambling got me into this miss and quitting gambling is the only way I'm getting out of it.

i know for you 400 $ sound like a joke but for me is a huge amount.im not blaming anyone for gambling, that is my fault. but some gamblers if not the most would stop gambling if they had no debt. that is why the are gambling . they are chasing losses. im gambling because i have no other way . you must have a good paying job i dont and cant get one. so dont judge people s motivation for gambling. to be 75 k in debt...if i had 5k not 75k i WOULD NEVER GAMBLE. some people dont know how good they have it.the only i want you to remember from what im saying is IF YOU CAN HELP PEOPLE THAT ARE IN NEED .instead of gambling 10 k give them to someone who needs.
