18 and need help. Check in to this site everyday and write down your feelings. I started gambling at 20 and at 40 I am trying to give up this addiction. I am at day 13. Your still very young and have the chance to live your life without this terrible addiction. Take it a day at a time. Tell someone you trust to control your money. Go to a GA meeting. Good luck

Hi Sean, Welcome to the forum. I am sorry that you are struggling with a gambling addiction.

You need to talk to people around you, a friend, your parents, or perhaps find a counselor. Also come here and post often, as we are a very caring community.

Do not get discouraged. I am gambling-free for 16 months, and about 27 months of being almost completely abstinent. Let me tell you, if I can quit gambling, anyone can! I had that obsession REALLY bad.

A day at a time is all it takes. Get to midnight tonight without gambling. Repeat tomorrow. I wish you serenity and love.

I'm sure you've seen the commercials where an older person addresses younger people who may be depressed and tells them "It gets better". When I saw that you're 18 it made me think of all the advice you'll get but one thing that you need to realize is that it 100% certainly won't get better if you continue to gamble. I couldn't even describe the misery that you will experience if you continue down the road you're on. Go to GA, it's free and extremely helpful.

When I was younger I thought gambling was the coolest thing in the world, I felt like such a big shot playing high stakes poker or betting the table maximum at blackjack. It wasn't until I was 43-years-old that I was able to quit but in the 3 years and 4 months since my last bet my life has improved so much I can't believe it. If I would have quit at your age I'd have my house paid off and might have $1 million in the bank. My debt is paid off now and I'm saving and very happy but I everything would be much better if I hadn't gambled.

Between GA and coming here you can quit forever. You just have to listen to those who have been successful and have faith that you'll be much happier without gambling. Tell us what kind of gambling you do, give us an idea of who might be able to help (family or friends) and we can give you an action plan to make you a former gambler.

You just need to get in to your head that ul never win gambling and will never have money if you continue to gamble. It took me 10 years to realize dat. I always taut I would win big at gambling and buy all the fancy cars and stuff i wanted. But in reality you can nvr win at gambling and in end we give any winnings back plus way more.
