Check out Stung: The obsession of Brian Molony. I'm reading through it now and it's another eye opener for me. I love this book.

These 2 books without doubt have had the biggest impact on me this year. I'm gonna read Allen Carr's one again once I finish Stung.

Doing quite well, closed one credit card after paying it off. Now I have 7 loan repayments left and I should be able to clear my other 3 credit cards by the end of next year.

That's a wonderful and inspiring update Walkaway !

Every debt cleared is such a weight off of our shoulders , and just proves that the debt is not insurmountable , once we have stopped racking it up by gambling .

Well done .

Hate to say it, but I agree with Buster too; I don't think there is a "Rock Bottom" for the gambling addiction. This is because I too, believe the disease stays in your blood until you die. If you can abstain from gambling and be GF for the rest of your life, then that is the battle to be won. I have said too many times after I lost a lot of money, that I will quit, never gamble again, but relapsed after some time passed. This was especially when I was back on my feet financially, and the "voice" told me I could just "control" it this time. That was another lie; I lost control again and lost another huge sum.

So it is a LIFELONG battle, as I see it, if you can keep from ever gambling again.

I agree, that old cliche was is just used when you feel pretty bad. I have noticed it does get easier with abstinence though.

I think the most important think is , never to attempt it again and think you can control it on a smaller scale, whatever you get out of any gambling will never be enough!

This book is a good read too!

*mod edit*

Here's a newspaper article about it:

I remember reading about him in the paper. Might have a read of that, thanks!

I also have social anxiety, so I think I was using gambling as an escape.

Doing things like watching documentaries when I am bored at home has helped.
