I wanted to read my previous posts, and I didn't delay after seeing your message here.

Here lies a great repository of feedback sharing advices on being GF. But I'm quite surprised why it is extremely silent in here. Either many have not discovered this site, or people knows how to be GF already.

I will continue posting in an own thread that I created, so that it can be my single point of journaling or sharing my thought/experience while on the recovery process.

3+ years gamble free. My biggest trigger in years - Biden's presidential victory. I didn't do it although I knew the outcome. It was hard. My wife is involved in my world and she even let me do whatever I wanted to do, but reminded my that I'll be gambling. It was enough for me.
I wish y'all all the strength and happiness in the world.

Thank you NewSunRising for your support and encouragement. Now that I'm in the Americas I hope we can meet one day and have a lunch together with other gamble/addiction free (or not) members from this forum who have helped us on our way.

Yeah, I also was certain that Biden would win.
But for us, winning or losing the bet doesn't matter to us anymore. Our mind are kinda twisted, especially since we are ex-gambling addict.
It is the same effect that alcohol has to a ex-alcoholic.

I have the problem with smoking too, but the trigger is mainly from gambling. So if I quit gambling, my other bad stuff also dies with it.

The last year has not been without its struggles . Coming here and reading our members posts and your heart-felt support to them has helped see me through . I accept that staying gamble-free will never be easy but I know in my heart it will always be possible .

4 years and 3 months.

I actually thought they were only 3+ years (as I wrote one week ago). The good news is once you pass your first or second year you stop counting because you don't really think about gambling. The bad news is the gambling still thinks about you and it calls you back time to time.

I was very tempted to bet on Biden's presidential victory, but eventually I couldn't do it. I need to thank my wife for that too. She didn't forbid me to place the bet, but she made it clear that she was against it. This is the second time she helps me tremendously to overcome a craving.

The first time was about three years ago and in that occasion she had to literally physically stop me from placing the bet at the bookies counter. There was no violence invloved, she just stopped in front of me on my way to the counter. I was drunk and out of control, but she looked me in the eyes and reminded me how hard I have struggled to stay gamble free (I was around one year GF at that point) and how much I will hate myself the next day regardless the outcome of the bet.

I accept that I will have to live with this addiction for the rest of my life I just hope that I will always have in my life people who care for me. People who love me and help me do the right thing.
The opposite of addiction is not sobriety. The opposite of addiction is connection. There is a beautiful video about this in my signature below I hope you'll find the time to see it (I fixed the previous link which wasn't working).

I have saved a lot of money and loving my life.

I only achieved this by reading a lot of posts on this forum.

This is still a dark secret and no one knows about it except you guys.

I have the same problem with you, soccer betting.

I finally see the light. This pandemic has helped me in my gambling recovery as it makes it impossible for me to gamble because the casinos in our region had been closed during a mandatory lockdown, and I cannot afford to gamble because of the uncertainty brought about by the pandemic.

Now that the government has eased the community quarantine, casinos are starting to open. But the sheer number of days that I have not gambled plus the lessons that this pandemic has taught me made me lose interest in gambling.
