Should I take my crash fetish to the next level?

Postby dangerman » Sat Sep 19, 2015 8:26 pm

I can't decide if I should increase the risk with my stunt / crash fetish.

Now I have all of the protection I feel I need, brilliant armour, really thick and padded race leathers etc and I have extensively tested their ability to protect me! I am thinking about crashing at higher speeds.
30 mph is about my limit on a push bike, I'm now seriously considering buying a motorbike well specifically a scooter that has a top speed of about 65 mph.
I don't want to have the temptation to go any quicker than that! not to mention the thought of crashing at anything over 50 petrifies me.
I don't feel that I'm pushing things to far but would like other people's opinions .....

Well I'm no professional but I'd say be careful, get some expert advice about how to protect yourself properly so you don't accidentally hurt yourself badly (accidents can happen easily, not just broken bones but things like whiplash and damaged tendons, spine problems--ya dont want back problems trust me, I have em) and don't get too addicted to it, its not worth it if you're gonna end up in the hospital :c

Is it the feeling of impact that you like? Maybe you could take out those feelings in a safer way, like...idk I'm grasping at straws here, maybe running into something stiff but not sharp to knock the wind out of yourself? Amusement park rides might give a good crash feel too.

Above all protect your head and neck. If you do it safely, I don't see much of a problem if it brings you satisfaction and whatnot

I havnt taken expert advice but I have done lots of research on the best ways to protect myself. I wear an extensive list of protective gear ( padded shorts,groin/abdo protector, full upper body armour inc-spine,shoulders, chest, upper arm lower arm and elbow pads. Knee pads, full motorcycle race leathers over all of that! Hard motorcross boots, wrist guards, thick paded and armoured leather gloves, gum shield, full face helmet with visor) The only item I havnt bought yet is a neck brace.
I have built up the crashes over the years learning what protection works best as I go.

I do like the impact but the main rush for me is wearing all of the gear and then using it for its intended purpose to protect me. The feeling of being in a set of leathers and sliding down a concrete road scrapping my whole body as I do, and knowing the damage that would be done if I didn't have it all on is a huge turn on for me.
I have run into things over the years but don't get the same rush as when I'm on a bike or running down a hill.
I like amusement parks but that doesn't satisfy these needs, while they my scare me the risk isn't there nor is the requirement to be protected.
I'm just weird I know!

Naw, you're not that weird! I've certainly heard weirder. It actually makes sense to me now that I think about it, the adrenaline rush from being in possible danger combined with the feeling of being protected and rushing head on into things, it seems like it'd make your whole body feel good.

I'm one of those people who's really out of shape (not overweight I'm the perfect weight for my height, just haven't exercised nearly as much as I should) so I'd feel too nervous to do dangerous things because I'm fearful of getting hurt so my bravery is out the window -w-''

You seem like you'd make a really good stunt person though! Idk how hard it is to get into that business but that sounds good for a crash fetishist

I'm also quite out of shape too, after 10 minutes I need a breather now!!!
Being a bit over weight is also making it a squeeze to get into all of the layers of gear.
I would be to embarrassed to try and become a stuntman, also they tend to keep protection to a minimum as they are often on screen. Crash test dummy might be a better fit. :? Maybe a maker of motorcycle gear will sponsor me to test their products?
