Anyone know a clear definition for dyslexia and possible symptoms and causes?

In my opinoin and experience causes are usually genetic, and symptoms can include confusing letters like b and d, or 6 and 9, or q and p. difficulties with hand writing and math. difficulties matcing appropritate letter with sound. Difficulties copying from board, and may ignore punctuation.
The list goes on, and on. To be honest i feel its impoissable to put someone in a spectrum of any kind. And it all depends on what age the person is of course.
Heres a good link to symptoms.

Hope any of my thoughts help in any way.

My son is in a special class at school and has many of the problems that you just listed. I know he has a slight learning disability but was never told it could be dyslexia...maybe they don't know for sure? Hoping that it does not hold him back. I worry it is causing lack of confidence.

I feel dat my lack of confidence has come from being in classes where im "the stupid one" and constently comparing myself to others. So im guessing that your son my not have real low self confidence as he's in these classes, it may thou bring a whole new network of feelings. You can never win, just do ya best. innit :)

Thank you! You are so right...can't win. Just trying to whats best for him. He seems more confident then last year and his teacher is great. I know he is fortunate to be in that class but exactly other feelings could develop and I guess just like EVERY parent we want our kids to feel no kind of upset.
