Quick co-consciousness question

Postby lifelongthing » Sat Sep 29, 2012 2:54 pm

So I've got a quick question:
If you're co-conscious with a blind (or hard-to-see or whatever) alter; are you able to see then? How about if you blend?

I'm more or less blind. I can see very very little after a trauma that I never recovered from. The others have different eyesights (ranging from good to not so good) but what if they end up co-conscious with me? Would they be able to see? I don't want to scare any of the kids or anything since not being able to see if a huge trigger for some of the kids - but I'm out more and more and we're getting more and more communication going..

So I was wondering. Plenty of questions from me lately, sorry

That is a very interesting question. I'm sorry I don't have an answer, but it does boggle the mind a little bit, doesn't it? hehe.

Check out this page I wrote on co-consciousness, but note that this is one of the pages on this site that have not been edited by a specialized in DID. It will probably change quite a bit after he edits it.

I had an entire level of blind alters. I used trance logic - gave them magic so they could see.

My Gorilla was also blind. I recently gave him magic, but the pain is so great when he opens his eyes that OUR eyes hurts, water... etc.... In therapy if we get him to focus on something other than the memories his eyes are fine, but otherwise they go right back to hurting. It's like sand is being dug into his eyes. Other alters have this problem too even though they are not blind. Also when I was what you called blended with Gorilla, I could see, but if he took over more than me, our eyes would shut and he would look around with them closed. My vision too is different depending on who is out. I called for Stephan to take my drivers license eye exam and got the limitation taken off my drivers license. he he

So - in your case.... my wild guess is that it all depends.

As you can see my various alters react differently. If an alter is scared I have learned 2 tricks in therapy. One is to be there for them and love them, the other is to have another alter come close to them and help them. I have one called Hope that bounces all over the place doing what we call "plopping." When someone is distressed I ask for someone inside to help them. Most of the time it's Hope, but not always. There are some things she cannot handle. In return others have plopped inside Hope and helped her out.

It really does

Thanks Tylas. Your reply was helpful :) We have a problem with eye pain due to my trauma too if anyone is too close to me/my memories. Best of luck with yours.
