Moods from one alter to another?

Is it true that you're supposed to be in the same range of emotions as your others alters? Someone told us that it's a sign of borderline that Nin can be okay, but then someone else switches out and (s)he can be sad or something and then when we switch back Nin will be okay again. Like we're supposed to be within the same, more or less, emotion cause we're in one body? I thought kinda the point of us being so many is that we don't feel the same way or have the same experiences etc. I thought borderline would more be that one part in the system had massive fluctuations in mood for example, not that all of us, upon switching, aren't the same emotion (or close in emotion to the last one, at all).. But maybe I'm wrong

No. Someone has it backward. Apparent mood changes due to switching often are mistaken for borderline personality disorder by those not familiar with DID. This is why so many people with DID are misdiagnosed and mistreated as having BPD. In a DID system different alters typically have different moods, and as we switch alters or experience blending or other forms of passive influence that contribute to identity alteration, the mood we display to others changes abruptly. However, in most DID systems the individual alters' moods are stable.
