Problem is is she isn't scared no one will believe she in an alter cause we know that but she's scared no one will believe in her name.

Perry always says that a name is the most important thing about anything, it's how we know what it is we need, if I'm hungry i know the thing I want is "food", grr, I don't get it



I read a story a long time ago about names and the power of them and how people used to think that things had "hidden" names, and that you could have power over something by knowing it's name. the book said that magic was just knowing the hidden names so you could tell the rocks to do something. Normally someone would say "rocks fly and hit that thing" but rocks wouldn't do it, cause that's not their name. A name then is the most important thing about a person or an object or an alter. So whatever her name might be, it's a very important thing, it is what defines her existence.

My question is, why does she think no one will believe in her name? Is it someone elses name and she feels like they might think she "stole" it?

Thank you for what you wrote Perry - that was very interesting. I'm not entirely sure what she's scared of, but I'd guess she's scared I'll say her name isn't her name because I've either heard it before as someone else's name (on the outside), meaning she "stole it", or something to that effect.

Yes maybe she thinks that.

Well you should let her know that everyone has a name, sometimes people have the same names, so that's why we have last names and middle names, sometimes even nick names.

maybe she feels like she "stole" the name, but maybe if she picks a middle name or maybe a last name she'll feel less like it was "stolen" and more like re-used, for her needs.

She always had her name. She just wants Nin to believe her that it's her name even though other people outside of our system also has that same name. She just wants to keep her name and have us believe her.

Thanks to everyone who's being supportive; Cassie, Kathryn - that means a lot. She went inside again after a few seconds but I'm sure she'll see this eventually. It's real good for us to have this place.

There's nothing wrong or unbelievable about having a name that someone else already has. It's just like when you find a person on the street who has the same name as you. It's certainly not a strange thing.

I had more but I'm a little fuzzy right now...

Definitely try some communication with her, though. Consistent reassurance that she will be believed and accepted, and that you guys don't care if her name's the same as someone else's. And that if she doesn't want to say her name, that's ok, you still want to get to know her.

As for the letting them know you can hear them thing... sometimes you just have to wait it out and it can be hard. But never stop trying to communicate with them or trying to find them. Just because they can't hear you right now, doesn't mean they never hear you.

Maybe try singing back to Jacob? He might only be able to hear in song or something as a reply. It might be his way of communicating right now.

As for the girl, just keep trying to communicate with her, too. And try to help yourself feel as comfortable, relaxed, and calm when you do so. When you feel better, it'll help her to feel better. Let her know that she doesn't have to share her name if she wants to come forward and stuff, too.
