Good Morning Everyone! Thank you Una and Beefy for the replies!!! Thank you for sharing with me! I talked about the forum with my H last night and about you Una. When I told him about your experiences, I had his complete attention. It seemed as if he could totally relate to you.
I have had some experiences far more bizarre and concerning than what I have shared in this DID Forum, that I cannot yet accept as real.

My H has also told me of some bizarre things. And I'm sure there are some things he probably hasn't told me yet. As you mentioned, it is difficult to accept as real and I know that is where he is struggling too.
I will ask him about sharing the thread with Pastor and T. I am still trying to get my H to read it and join the forum as well
What I can tell you - based on my own experience only - is now that my wife and I both understand me a little better, and now that I'm actively engaged with a good therapist who's helping me learn to function - things are better now in our marriage than they ever have been.

Thanks so much Beefy for your reply and this is very encouraging to me!!!!! Since I have been on this forum it has opened my eyes so much!!!! I know that it will take some time for us both to adjust. I pray that I can hang in there!!!!! I do see that is possible and that is very encouraging!

I've been lurking around on this thread, mainly because Una+ has done a far better job than I could at giving advice, but also because I had no idea how to respond. Now I do! :D

Congrats and good for you for hanging in there this far! It's a tough road to have DID and be in any relationship- heck, even friendships can be hard! With how much many of us are used to being left, it's always encouraging to see a partner or a family member or someone who's trying to stick it out and not give up. So thank you for being one of those people! I'm sure that if you've made it this far, you can make it farther, especially with therapy for your husband. Things might get tougher before they get better, but the "better" will definitely be worth it. :D I, myself, am not in therapy, though I hope to return to it soon. I've been with my boyfriend for almost 2 years now- full of ups and downs. I can only imagine how much our relationship will improve once I'm back in therapy, and I'm sure it'll be the same for you and your husband. Once he's able to learn more about himself, accept himself, and understand himself better- all parts of him- the more connection he'll have with himself, and the less chaotic things will be in the long run. Reconnecting with buried emotions, memories, problems, etc., will always cause some internal uproar, but afterwards the peace inside will be real, not forced, and things will be better than they ever have been for both him and most likely you. :D

Good luck with everything!

I have to be honest I havent read all the answres you have had so I might be reapeating them. nyone with DID is in a bad place. they need understanding . care and love. I have lost 2 relationships because of my condition but finally I have found a girl that understands whats happening to me..it has taken nearly 23 years before they have said I have DID. And in that time i have ruined relationships, jobs, careers, friendships and basically my life.
I have attempted suicide on multiple times because of my condition and still want to today. The only thing that stops me is the fact I know I have a girl that loves and cares for me, I am still trying to understand my conidition and my alters. Its all still very new to me, but from what I have learnt this is a condition that can be helped with therapy ( I might be wrong there).
Your partner can get better and with your help will get better. Please dont give up on your marriage, you are supposed to be there through sickness and in health. Stay together, be supportive and you oth will get through this. I only survive because of my girlfriend and her understandind. Without her I would not exist.
Dont give up. be strong, stay together , help as much as you can but most of all, be there.

Good Morning Everyone!!!! Thanks for your replies Cassandra and tommyvf
I've been lurking around on this thread, mainly because Una+ has done a far better job than I could at giving advice, but also because I had no idea how to respond. Now I do!

Thanks so much responding! I have been reading your threads as well and getting to know you also. And by reading your threads, as well as others, I have been able to understand DID more! I love how everyone is just so honest about everything. And that honesty really helps to begin the healing process, even for those who are not suffering with DID.
So thank you for being one of those people! I'm sure that if you've made it this far, you can make it farther, especially with therapy for your husband.

I really appreciate your encouragement and now I now see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. I know it won't be easy but it seems that with each passing day this week since I have started reading this forum I am increasing in hope for the future.
Good Luck to you too, and Thanks!

Thanks so much for the advice and you are right. I hope to look back in 30 years or so and say WE made it!!!! And maybe even give support and testimony in the future to others who are struggling with DID and/or those who have loved ones with DID , as you all have helped me so much. But I know it will be small steps for right now.

I have such mixed feelings about this, both sad and happy. When I first came to this DID Forum I searched the archive for stories of other people like me. Only a few came close. So I decided to be open about my own story, as far as I am able, hoping there would be lurkers who can relate or there would eventually be new readers who come after me and feel enough resonance with my story to share their own.

Not everyone who has DID has the kinds of experiences your husband and I are having, and perhaps some of our experiences are not part of DID but are something else. This is a matter of debate in the scientific literature. In Brazil we would be seen as having certain gifts that are the basis of Spiritist (not Spiritualist) mediumship.

Hi Attheendofmyrope and welcome.

I apologize for not having any advice or comments for you and I am not trying to hijack your thread, but I have a question for Una.

Una: what does the aura of a person with DID look like? A single, but different one for each alter or multicolored?
thanks!

For the benefit of future readers, I'll answer this question in the thread about seeing auras.

DID Forum: Can you see a person's aura?

Good Evening everyone!! I hope everyone is having a good day today!

I have such mixed feelings about this, both sad and happy. When I first came to this DID Forum I searched the archive for stories of other people like me.

Una, I really understand what you mean, I kind of got the same response from my H when I told him about the fact that I found people going through the same thing he is. In some way I thought this would make him feel better. He said " I'm happy for you, because you have a way to remove a little bit of your worry, but I just want to figure out how to make this (DID) stop. I like being who I am right now and I want control over my body at all times. It's like saying you have you have your hand cut off and you feel better because some other people have their hand cut off too. Of couse you don't feel better that other's are suffering."
So I decided to be open about my own story, as far as I am able, hoping there would be lurkers who can relate or there would eventually be new readers who come after me and feel enough resonance with my story to share their own.

I'm SO thankful that you and others on this form have been so brave in sharing something that is very personal and very painful. In your sharing, you have helped not only me, but also given my family the possible chance of staying together!

This is a matter of debate in the scientific literature. In Brazil we would be seen as having certain gifts that are the basis of Spiritist (not Spiritualist) mediumship.

This is very interesting to me, I've asked my H about this and he's told me that he has some dreams that may follow along those lines. This also caught my attention, there is a thread on this forum regarding electricity and batteries and things like that. Since I've known my H any cell phone he has owned has not worked properly. And recently for the past few months no matter how much he charges the battery dies unusually fast. It could just be the battery, but I thought it was interesting that it showed up on this forum.

Hi Una, I was just reading the definition of spiritist and mediumship to get a better understanding. From what my H told me about his dreams, I was wrong, they are more along the lines of prophecy (Spiritual).
