Your Physical Symptoms

Postby Snuffthroostr » Sun Jun 24, 2012 3:47 am

I have noticed a lot on here and other places that most people with DID have a variety of physical symptoms. People often ask if their symptoms are DID related. So, I thought it might be nice for everyone to list their symptoms, DID related or not, for a comparison. I think we might all find we have a lot in common.

I guess since I am asking, I will go first:

Diagnosed
Sinus Tachycardia (rapid heartbeat which causes chest pains and difficulties breathing)
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Low BP
Chronic Orthostatic Intollerance (BP drops when sitting, standing, laying)
Chronic Dry Eyes
Iritis (Protiens in the eyes harden)
Exercise Intolerance (Blood pressure DROPS while exercising)
Sleep Apnea
Ulcers

Undiagnosed
Stomach Pains
Migraines
Headaches (ranging from irritations to pin-like sensations)
Chronic Fatigue
Dizziness
Irregular Menstrual Cycle
I can feel the blood pressure pulsing in my head at times
Vision changes often
Too hot/cold never comfortable

That's all I can think of at the moment, but there are probably more. If you guys think this was a stupid idea, let me know that too!

Thanks

Not a bad idea at all. I'll go next.

Insomnia
irregular period
frequent urinary tract infections
Bad eyesight
knee and back problems (minor)
Always tired (often related to the insomnia, but many times, even when I do slee, I'm still tired all day)
Fall allergies

Probably not an absolutely complete list, but the obvious/common ones. But I'm the type of person to focus more on mental/emotional things, such as depression, paranoia, dissociation, ect.

DID-related physical side effects...
I wonder how many of them are actually from medicine Ts put many multiples on.
Mine would be:
Muscle spasms
Episodical blurred vision
Sensitivity to sound and light
Headaches
Hyperventilation
All of which can be explained by our lack of coordination when controlling the body.
Multiple personality condition.
1. Rational thinker 'person'.
1. Protector 'person'.
2. Self destructive 'person'.

This is interesting.... I've always been horribly uncoordinated. I have chronic pain that comes and goes and my doc says it seems to be mechanical in origin, like from the brain not controlling the body right.

Severe delayed onset food allergies. My possible alter is a 3? yo girl, they're sensitive to everything. Nothing used to bother me.

Anxiety.
Possible DID or DDNO (not diagnosed yet)

Aryn - compromise name for whole system
Eric - Front, 25(biological age)/m(?)
Hanna nickname "Pickles" - Little, 3/f

This is a really interesting post! I'm not sure how many of my physical ailments are DID related, but I tend to believe everything is interconnected!

- neck pain, sometimes accompanied by dizziness
- low energy, motivation
- binge-eating
- I used to have IBS, but haven't for a little while
- I also am VERY uncomfortable in hot temperatures, in fact, it makes my neck pain flare up
- i've been kind of ashamed of this, but I can't wear small-necked shirts, heavy necklaces, or aprons, because even the slightest pressure on the back of my neck/head leads to nausea. The neck-pain related symptoms are really probably due to a skull deformation that was corrected by surgery when I was 7, but the doctor's still can't explain to me why/how I have this sensitivity.

Strictly physical symptoms for me include:
-random body jerks and twitches, sometimes in episodes
-blinking under pressure
-migraines/pressure in head
-gagging sensation, feeling of cold hands on my body sensation (Flashback/PTSD symptom?)
-dizziness/lightheadedness under stress, before and after a switch
-random aches (although I think everyone experiences this?)

It will, over time. It is still getting worse for me, but I believe it will get better someday. Dissociation saved me from horrible pain as a child. It is a mechanism everyone here honed to perfection as a child. The bad times are over, and it is time to heal and grow like we weren't able to as children.

As we heal and learn about how our system works, the dissociation will lessen over time. I know it is true but don't quite believe it as we type this.

Variable and clearly psychosomatic symptoms, in no particular order:

- mild lower back pain (weirdly associated with a vague positive feeling)
- tingling at the back of the neck (having it all the time last few days)
- acne (weirdly, most of it on the back of my neck this time)
- dizziness (without much actual loss of balance)
- sensitivity to light and sound (hangover-like)
- twitching (arms and eyelids, mostly)
- irritability of the eyes (wind, heat, cold, or nothing at all; sometimes with tears)
- unexplained excessive sweating (different from usual sweating caused by anxiety)
- bloating (sometimes debilitating)
- food cravings (sometimes for sweets, sometimes for salty junk food)
- strabismus / double vision (my vision also switches from one eye to the other)
- allergies (insects, dust, certain types of wood, cigarette smoke)
- sleep apnea (not because of weight: my weight is below average)
- bruxism (during sleep)
- intolerance to weather changes (headaches, flushing, numbness)
