The 1st time I was pulled over, I had quite the time time with the cops. Living in my small town afforded me some 'forgiveness' but after the event, my T recommended that I speak with the police dept., hospital personel, ect. via a conference for educational purposes. I declined. She then, on the back of her business card wrote a msg. that in the event of an emergency, PLZ contact her immediately. Gave me much relief!

I got some DID emergency cards from the charity PODS. Haven't needed to use one yet though. Luckily I've not come across an emergency situation where only a card will explain what is going on with me. I've never had the kind of amnesia that takes me somewhere I don't know so...

Wow when I read this, I felt like I'm reallyreally happy you have your T. That is so caring....Dont know why but it just warmed my heart to read about a T who would do that. I could imagine this would give me a lot of relief too..the feeling that someone is there for me.
Im constantly in situations where I cannot explain certain things Ive done. It might be helpful to carry around something of this sort, I probably wouldnt since Im all secretive and dont want anybody to know...about things...
but..would be helpful.
Im very sad inside

We would feel too exposed if we wrote our diagnosis down for in the event of an emergency. Lots of parts would have problems thinking that anyone who found out about our diagnosis would use it to exploit us and take advantage of us. We do keep a card of our therapist in our purse in case something drastic was to happen, they would at least figure out then that I had a mental health problem... We feel like that is not too revealing and would probably be sufficient to help us.
