Anzea, the disconnection feeling, light-headedness, dizziness, etc, sounds like a "simple partial seizure". I have these myself. What I advise is for you to see a neurologist to distinguish if what you describe is indeed a neurological condition. As well, physical symptoms like blood pressure, blood sugar, heart rate, etc. can cause what you describe.

Hi, everyone.

I see i posted to this thread awhile back - probably, because i get the dizziness, headaches, blurred vision, feeling like i am about to lose consciousness and such. I have heard headaches and dizzziness can be connected to switching.

I also experience where my head feels like it is shaped oddly. Like parts of my head are sticking further up or out than other parts. Someone mentioned this may be due to shiftiing going on inside. Just wondering if anyone here has experienced anything similar to this.

Thanks for any replies.

best wishes,

Some times I get random dizzy spells, or I'm walking and the whole space contiuum around me suddenly drastically tilts, but then goes back to normal. And random moments when I get a headache. I don't think its from switching though.

HI,

YA, I GET HORRIBLE HEADACHES. IT ALSO FEELS LIKE MY SCULL IS SHAPED DIFFERENT. WHEN I GO TO THE THERAPIST, OR FEEL NERVOUS, I FEEL LIKE I,M GOING BACKWARDS AND THE ROOM GETS LONGER. LIKE HORIZONTAL VERDIGO. I GET THIS, KIND OF A WARM FEELING IN MY HEAD, AND MY SCALP FEELS NUMB, THEN I FEEL IT ALL OVER. KIND OF LIKE GOING DOWN IN AN ELEVATOR TOO FAST, (THAT IS WHAT I COMPARED IT TO WHEN I WAS A CHILD). AS I GET MORE COMFORTABLE IT GETS BETTER, BUT DOESN'T GO AWAY FOR AND HOUR OR SO.

SOMETIMES MY BODY FEELS SMALLER, LIKE A CHILD. MIRRORS KIND OF FREAK ME OUT, LIKE WHO'S THAT. THE KID IS CURIOS, SO I USUALLY END UP HAVING A LITTLE TALK WITH HER.

BEST TO YOU, :D

Oh Christ, don't even get me started on mirrors. Can't even look at myself without thinking "That's not me. I don't know who the ###$ that is, but its not me"

Benny and Mr Bates,

I don't like mirrows, either. Strange faces look back at me. I feel small sometimes, too. I sit at the kitchen table and swear i am gazing at the edge of it at eye level. (But, right now, as i measure, it hits right at the diaphram of the body). It is too weird.

Sometimes, my hands seem larger and like they are not mine.

take care,

As a self proclaimed bibliophobe... and diagnosed with DID, I have done much reading on the subject and many common threads are what we all seem to be dealing with. Headaches and dizziness are a common problem for me, I will switch and get a terrible headache sometimes, especially if the memory is "new". It has something to do with how many neurons are being fired, and how much of your brain is being used. That part of the muscle has not been used in a very long time, and now it is getting a hefty work out. I have found that while the headaches are an ongoing problem, the more I work on the memory or alter that caused the headache (even if they didnt mean to...) the less likely I am to have a headache when accessing that particular memory. Also a particularly helpful supplement for me has been glutamic acid. Just a reccomendation, as I am not a medical doctor, but it can be found at any vitamin shop. Its used for athletes to prevent muscle aches.
So what is the "me"?
My brain I suppose.
Because I have sort of a voice in my head, the part of me that thinks, that feels, that is aware that I exist at all.

i don't think it's necessarily tied with d.i.d. .. i have this problem as well but in my case it's due to depersonalisation
