:( I was diagnosed with DID and PTSD almost 7 months ago, and I am still learning to live with it. I was wondering if other people with this diagnoses has felt lightheaded on occasion. It seems lately I feel really light like a feather and sometimes feel lightheaded when I change eye views. Seems like I can't even focus sometimes, on more than one occasion it feels like whatever i am looking at is unfocused like a bad tv reception. More than once I have felt like I am looking all around the room when my eyes are actually looking at a particular thing. I dont know whether i have ADD or if it is because of DID. I dont know why I feel this way ? I am so confused ...I need someone to talk to. :?

Hi anzea. In my opinion this sounds as if it could be either a visual or a medical problem that may not have anything to do with having PTSD or DID. You might want to get your vision checked or see a medical doctor to check this out to make sure.

I have a problem with lightheadedness and not being able to focus but I have and ED in addition to DID so I'm pretty sure it's from that

Well, if you are not eating enough then your red cells don't have enough oxygen in them to carry to your brain so it IS likely that you might experience lightheadedness and some dizziness. Are you are still getting some kind of professional help for these problems? It sounds as if you might need a professional to talk with.

Although dizziness is not uncommon with DID, I do, however, think you've been given good advice to have things checked out medically.

Have you had the light-headedness for a long time?

Hi, all.

I agree w, mermaidmo. Best to have it checked. That being said, i have frequent problems with lightheadedness, vertigo and headaches. I have felt i was going to lose consciousness (and, have even fallen).

I have heard other DIDs complain of these same symptoms as well as visual problems. And, i have heard it said that these things can be attributed to switching.

So what anzea describes is, as mermaidmo stated, not uncommon with DID. But to be safe, one should have it checked out.

best wishes,

Anzea,

I should have read your post more closely before posting. Although i can relate to what you describe, medical problems as a cause have been ruled out for me.

You say you feel these things occasionally. Also, i think mermaidmo raised a good question. How long has this been going on? Has it just started.

Although what you describe could be attributed to your DID, i really think it would be wise to have a medical check up for these symptoms to be on the safe side.

wishing you the best,

Thank you all for showing such support. Yes, I think I'll get it checked out by a professional first. It started about 7 to 8 months ago ..... but the unconnected feeling and occ visual problems (like not being able to focus) have been with me for quite sometime, I always thought it was normal :( . Thanks again , I 'll have my symptoms checked out.

But i also have something similar to what you descriped i get these weird blackouts, when i see nothing but blackness, and then almost like snowy periods you get on the tv when the cable goes out... yes i also get dizzy spells and headaches and sometimes i feel faint. so yes i undrestand your pain.

SIGHT PROBLEMS DID?

Postby BENNY » Wed Apr 19, 2006 5:23 am

HEY ALL,

WOW, THIS IS REALLY WEIRD! I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH MY SIGHT CHANGING. SOUNDS LIKE THE SAME THING. AT TIMES I CAN'T FOCUS AT A DIFFERENT DISTANCE. OTHER TIMES I'M 20/20, AT TIMES WHEN THINGS ARE BLURRY, I GET A KIND OF DOUBLE VISION. AT NIGHT THE DIZZINESS IS WORSE.

I GOT UP A FEW WEEKS AGO, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, FELL AND BROKE MY NOSE, AND ALMOST KNOCKED OUT A COUPLE TEETH. I DON'T KNOW WHY I WAS UP, IT SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME!

I'VE HAD MY EYES CHECKED MANY TIMES, ( WHICH I TOO WOULD RECOMEND YOU DO) BUT THEY NEVER FOUND OUT WHY I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS, SO I JUST CARRY A PAIR OF GLASSES WITH ME.

I ALSO GET THAT "BAD TV. RECEPION". THINGS WILL GET ALL GRAY AND GRAINY LIKE. WOW, THIS IS TOO WEIRD! I WONDERD IF THERE IS A CONNECTION TO D.I.D. I GET A LOT OF HEADACHES TOO. YOU MIGHT HAVE CAUGHT ON TO SOMETHING!

HOPE EVERYTHING CHECKS OUT OK! :)
