How often do you hear them?

Postby TinyPieces » Mon Mar 19, 2012 11:33 am

So here's a question about "voices"

I dont hear them outside, I hear them inside my head, but I had a few questions. I dont hear them all the time, but when something important like..picking a chocolate bar comes up...hehe..everybody has their own opinion and starts shouting.
At times, I dont hear any, at times they are loud again.

And mostly, I talk out their dialogues a lot , especially when Im alone...they would rather talk than scream in my head it seems.

How do you all experience them?

and do you hear them? I've actually met some DID folks that don't!

I always thought it was "me" until I realized I always used "our" when I was by myself.. a lot.

As I kid I would pretend it was someone else, but as I grew older I tried to accomodate so it would be "myself" so I was never aware of how abnormal it was to have constant intrusive , opposite views in my head.
Im very sad inside :( very sad.

I don't! I have DID and while I can sometimes kind of feel them thinking (it's feels like having someone's thoughts going into your thoughts - not belonging to me I mean), but that's just after quite some time trying to communicate more. I can sometimes feel them being scared/upset/wanting something et cetera or getting mental images from them but I can't hear them at all. It made it a lot harder to realize it was DID and makes the denial that much worse.

I always thought it was "me" until I realized I always used "our" when I was by myself

That was a sign for me, too. When I was scared/upset I would use "us", "we" et cetera without really thinking about it. Then it became more obvious when others came out and started sharing their stories of course -- but that was one of the things I noticed when I first started figuring out what was different with me vs other people.

It depends...... I always have the sensation of white noise going on in my head, I never really have complete silence, always some nattering going on that I can't work out.......

some alters thoguh when talking directly TO me from inside... I will hear. Usually a little asking a question. Or Poppy saying something sarcastic about th environment. Or Mary saying something comforting. But its always TO me.

When I start hearing voices in my head that seem to be completely random, that is when I'm pretty dissociated and almost in crisis. Sometimes it feels like I almost "slip inside" and start hearing parts of conversation that don't make sense to me at all......

For me/Us I can hear them as clear a someone standing beside me talking.I will speak to them and they do speak back to me.I also hear the others talking to each other. Also their presents are always with me.The only time this is not the case is when I lose time such as last Friday. I had about four or five hours missing. As far as I knew I was a sleep but the SO told me I got her up for work, walked the dogs and played on the computer but I was a sleep as far as I am aware. At least someone washed the dishes for me while I was sleeping. :D Also I can see them sometimes out side, alot on the inside.I can also watch them when they front, can remember what they say and do.I guesss by some standards set for DID these days I/we do not fit the normal molds for the disorder but then again we have had several decades of being co-conscience,for the most part, so we have had time to learn to work with the system.

Same here! That gets frustrating for me, because I realize it's happening, but can't really get a grip on getting it to stop. I suppose that's just our system standing up for me?

Same here, Bourbon. Today was pretty nuts like that.

Does anyone ever "see" in their minds eye a strong image of an other almost sort of jump out of your body and do something? Sometimes it's accompanied getting an internal message about them getting really excited about doing something.

I only ever hear 2 in my head- one that screams and calls me horrible names and the other is just a child crying begging her to stop. Fortunately, this is not often. Sometimes it's really loud and sometimes it's in the background. But, I do hear them a lot when I am going to sleep at night.

This is pretty much how it goes for me all the time.

Absolutely. I have identified 6 by name thus far, however I know that there are more about whom I don't yet know much. I have heard other voices that don't match those I've identified. I also can just feel other presences that I've not yet heard and that haven't shown themselves yet.
