Movie

Postby Alln1 » Fri Mar 16, 2012 6:55 pm

I have fallen in love, so to speak, with the movie Queen to Play. The backdrop, for me is chess. However, what i am so moved by is how so self-contained she is. She doesn't have a need to respond back or defend herself to her hair stylist friends, or to others. When asked if she could do something she simply says no, she is busy, without sacrificing herself to change and people please, or change her plans, or give explanation.
She comes alive when she has found something that is for her, and that inspires her.
Also she doesn't even talk about herself or what she is doing to everyone. I also really enjoy her courage and got alot out of her husbands role, and the other main male character. And how his attitude towards her shifts and why, and how.
I am trying my best not to give away details of the movie. It has really revealed ways in which i know i need, and desire to change, and has been fun to watch her be the oppisite so easily. Also it reminds me of a multiple i knew that one of her alters found how much she loved art, and was an artist. Her whole life shifted and bloomed by the discovery.
So even if you don't like chess or have never played, there was alot to this movie, for us at least.
Could you please give feed back if you watch it, or share any other movie you have been moved by, and why. We watch it on Netflix. Thanks

I have Netflix on my laptop. I'm not sure how that is different, but i have a search bar and just type in the name of the movie i want, or press onto recently watched movies. You have any recommendations for movies?

Well the netflix has certain devices that u can use to stream movies from your pc or laptop right to your t.v if you have one. This is what I do with a roku player. If you like a certain movie they will automatically recommend movies for you similar to the ones you chose, it's pretty cool but addictive so be careful :)

Thanks!!!! That sounds like my kind of movie - dark, moody, smart people. I just use my computer to watch anything as well. I have 3 teen girls that took over the living area long ago!

Love the chess things too.

I would say the theme for Breaking Away is determination. It's also about friendship and family. I found it moving, funny. It also has to do with cycling, and has an Italian flare. It was rated #8 on a list of 100 top movies online.
Queen to Play is a French movie with subtitles.
I think Breaking Away and Grand Canyon are pretty old movies, with Grand Canyon being the oldest. Grand Canyon is about the dangers of life, but heavy on friendship. Also family and coming into your own. Making decisions about what you want to do and whats important to u. At least that was my take on them.
One a little bit heavier. I'd say a little dark is JellyFish.
I really liked Matrix as well. Saw it a long time ago but really enjoyed i
