Communication between sub-systems

Postby mosaicmonkey » Sat Feb 11, 2012 8:41 pm

Anyone here with more than one system? We found out about 6 weeks ago that our system is made up of 2 sub-systems. Anyone got any advice for how we can build internal communication? At the moment we're using notes as we can't communicate. Advice appreciated.

It depends very much on how the sub-systems initially formed I think. For us we need to be able to get in a different state of thought, either a less conscious one or a more hyper aroused one (as in alert, not the sexual sense of the word), to be able to communicate with the parts from the other sub-systems. So we find either going to sleep and communicating with the other parts in our thoughts just after we've woken up is good or sometimes our therapist will say something that makes the other parts angry so that they can come more into our conscious awareness...

I'm not sure if that's at all helpful to you but just in case it might be, I thought I'd say...
In a way, I am not defined by my dissociation. In a way, I am.

I do not know what a subsytem is. I had 28 levels that are now all existing on one. Is this a subsystem?

From what we understand our systems formed like this

Birth child - Split 1 - Split 2 - creates one system
Split 3 - Creates another system

Will try the sleeping thing, SL, thanks. Our co-con is usually extremely heightened when we're falling asleep so will definitely try, thank you :)

@ Tylas - I'm not sure what the difference is between levels and subsystems? I mean, we have groups etc which I assume is similar to levels, but not sure. :)

I bet you are right. Levels is a term I used not knowing what else to call it. Yes, I have Chanel - I call her Mitochondrial Eve because she is not core, but she was the first to split from the core. Then other parts split from her, and more from then, until finally ALL parts split a final time.

I call this part their twin.

The twins are interesting because in almost every case - one is a system protector and the other an a part that took and remembers abuse (an exile). All of these parts are EP's - both system protectors and exiles.

I have two systems. From the little I understand about our system, the two keyholders and the ISH are able to access both systems.

Maybe you have an other that can access both systems and bridge the gap between the two.

My system had a total reorganization - it took a few weeks, but started on January 1st 2012 - Happy New Years! Oh - it was painful and exhausting... but a needed and healing step.

It resulted in the layers being gone.
All parts are now on one layer and all parts could see - hear and maybe visit other parts.

Sorry to use the word layer. Any other term has not sunk in yet. Prior to this reorganization Sage, my ISH was able to navigate all layers, and a few parts could move about here and there. My system managers from Level 25 could see and hear all alters from all levels.

I need to read a good book on subsystems. I never have. If I do, then I and those inside will understand subsystems. Know of any - anyone? I don't like this feeling of not knowing.

The term subsystems is making sense now and I am finding the term in some recent literature.

I would describe my system as having 28 subsystems seemingly arranged in layers with the core in the center and those that interact most with the outside world in the 1st or outermost layer.
