Mapping my dreamscape*may trigger*

Postby Borg » Mon Dec 26, 2011 4:06 pm

Hi,
So while I was gone, I have some questions I can't seem to figure out.
I've had the same dream for about ten years now, of this particular scenario. (What's up with dreamscapes that don't change much over the years?)

So, I figure I might as well start mapping out my dreamscapes. This one has been bugging me for a bit.
Atmosphere: Twilight-ish, rather dark, cloudy, sometimes rain.
Layout:
It's a large lot of land, square shaped. Woods, pasture, some dirt roads to access the various parts/paddocks. Fenced and cross-fenced. I have been working on securing the perimeter from predators, we've had problems with a pack of coyotes slipping through. (My dead livestock said that the predators can still kill them.) This time, I was happy to see my work of fence mending has been sticking. I noticed this time a large hole on the southwest corner of the outer most paddock was still holding. (On a side note, in real life I've been working on setting healthy bounderies), so cool.

There are several buildings and out buildings in various states of decay. On the south end of the property, there are two houses, side by side, one has a large tree that fell through the roof, I've been working on repairing it to make it habitable. In the meantime, I've resided on the house on the right.

There is a barn in the back, with various rooms, an attic I keep the chickens in, I've fixed it up so the live animals can stay safe there, I store the feed there too.(I have dead animals, and live animals in my dreamscape) There are several rooms in the barn, I keep my goats, and sheep in their own stalls. The chickens have their own roost, access to feed, and range.

There are three out buildings on the far right side(east) of the property, they are a laundry building, out buildings, one where my dead pets stay, as the dead and living do not mix.

In the far north side of the property there is a delapitaded chicken coop it's called the outpost. There is a two lane road a bit from the coop, usually I stay away from the road, as I was told if I try to cross it, a car will run me over and I will die. (Final destination style, walking across a seeeminly abandoned road, then BAM, I get hit, roll on the road, and die).
So to the dream, I had saw a alter in the shower that night, I saw my shadow, but it was shorter than I and had a hairstyle from when I was 11yo. I was just like okay, so I got ready for bed. Around 3am, I was woken up from the shower knobs squeeking, they had the exact pitch of an animal crying for help. So for about an hour, I heard the squeeking sound, fast, slow, drawn out, it was really hard to ignore it and fall into a deep sleep like I wanted and it was permeating my dream. So I was in this semi-dream state for about an hour of shower squeeks, then when that stopped the toilet started to flush and fill, over and over again for about half an hour. :roll:

So in the dream: I was mostly in the house on the right, and then the coop in the north.
So it starts with the shower knob squeeking in the waking world, I fall asleep and hear the squeeking sounds. I followed the squeeking sound, as a wandered around the livable house. As I got closer to the squeeking sound, I could hear the screams of animals dying. So I got closer, the screams got louder, the girls was screaming at me that I forgot the pets, and they were dying of starvation. We got into a bit, but anyway, when I got to the screams, it was a new room, the door swung open and I saw my pet parrotlets(I haven't owned them in several years). There were 7 or 8 parrotlets total, in various stages of death and decay. Two were alive screaming, one blue on green, a boy and girl. I rushed out to get them food, brought it back, I filled up their water dishes and apologized. I didn't know I had parrotlets still. I didn't know they existed. They said I forgot about the chickens in the trailer outpost coop like structure. That they were dying.

I rushed to the coop,and when inside,it's a rather defunct coop, cages at waistlevel, stacked two cages high, rectangular in shape, an isle in the center. I saw chickens in various stages of decay. I remember being here before and had thought I moved all the survivors to the barn where I set up a roost in the attic of the barn, feeder and a door that the chickens can use to free range come to roost at will. I found a silkie chicken, like a dark buff color, amongst the bodies and rubble of bones.
I was surprise at the buffish silkie as the ones that represent death to me are the white ones. They warned me to stay away from the road again, and I woke up.

Okay, so I get the fenceline means boundaries. I'm thinking predators are my family members that cross my boundaries. But the other stuff??

This is hard to follow but certainly laced with psychological metaphors. I'm learning to set boundaries too, so you keeping up with your fences rang true for me too. After being raised to not have boundaries, that is a struggle to put up the fences and then accept that you are allowed to keep people out.

As for the rest, just wow! And to have it happen for 10 years is amazing. I have a few different reoccuring dreams like that but none that last for 10 years. My latest one to figure out is one that happens on a pensula with a campground.

As for yours though, I have some guesses (and that is all they are- guesses) and questions that may or may not help you figure it out.

The 11 yr old in the shower- is that an alter you already know or is this her way of letting herself be known to you?

The live animals could be the alters and memories you already know and "take care of" and the dead ones could be the ones you don't know.

The dead animals- they can still communicate. Is there a way you could build a vet clinic in the dreamscape and bring them back to life?

The road- that sounds like a way to keep you in the barnyard. Like a way you can't run from the problems. It could also be that once the animals are taken care of, you will be able to cross the road. Maybe other memories are hiding across the road- more scary and traumatic ones.

The old house with the tree thru the roof- your old life (your childhood) that was damaged and crashed?

The new house- where you had to live when the old one was damaged. Host change?

The old house- can you get inside of it? Is it full of old things or empty? Is it locked up?

Are there any other people around or just you and the animals? Are you human in the dream?

The birds- I have no idea but that part is facinating. Could they maybe be child alters?

The chickens- if you already moved the live ones to a safe place, could it be they are going back there on their own or perhaps ones that were dead are coming back to life?

~~~~~~
Only you can figure it all out but it is all very interesting. It may take you a long while before the puzzle is solved, but it is your puzzle to solve. I wish you luck.
Thanks for your response.
The alter was narrating the storyline. She is a new one. I didn't recognize her as part of my main group, so we got into a bit of a fight about who she was and her purpose for a bit. :oops:
It's weird how it's been a long going dream. It's like those chase dreams or driving dreams, it hasn't happened everyday, but it's happened a few times over the past few months, but in different locations. Like in one part I was in the barn adding light, securing it, in another, working the fence. Just working on several parts of the dream. Maybe that's really weird.
I like your idea of setting up a vet clinic for the dead animals. The dead animals talk telepathically. Except the parrotlets, who would screech words.
I can get in the old house, fully accessable. I was sleeping in a tent on the porch as the rain was coming into the roof as I was building the new house. The plan was to fix the roof of the old house and make it habitable as well. There are alot of hidden rooms in each of the buildings. Furniture strewn about in the old house, quite a mess really. I don't know where all the junk came from or the outbuildings.
There are people in the dreamscape at times, but this time just the eleven year old. I'm me in the dream as she guides me.
I can see what your saying about the road, maybe it's like I'll cross that road when I get to it thing. Or however that saying goes. Or why did the chicken cross the road.? :lol: IDK.
I can see the parrotlets being child alters, when I owned parrotlets, I regarded them as my babies.
Thank you so much, I feel like you gave some really good things to chew on.
I wish you luck in your dreamscape as well.
Thank you!
It is a pretty vivid dream, thanks for sharing.
I don't know what to add, as much things very interesting have been said.
It seems your role is to protect the livestock, and that is why you cannot cross the road.
I would guess the livestock represents emotions.
Dead livestock, hurt feelings?
I suppose the shower triggered some fear, and maybe that is what kills the livestock.
Parrotlets might be older emotions that you forgot about.
House and furniture may represent thoughts, maybe. Secret rooms, secret thoughts.
I did not have those type of dreams for a long time.
That's really true. Lots of things to think about thank you. I think I might draw it out to get a better idea. I was like what a live goat mean? or what if it's dead? I told my alters to communicate in dreams, rather than just yelling at me, so here we go. :)
