"trigger" Differant values in alters

Postby mow59 » Tue Dec 06, 2011 6:38 pm

Hello,
What happens when you have two alters that have totally different values on a subject. Sexual would be a good ex. One likes the other doesn't . What conflicts does it create and how does it manifest itself. Thanks.

Not sure I understand exactly what you're trying to ask. Lots can happen, I mean, there are several of us in our system who don't see eye to eye on a lot of things. We generally argue about it, but usually come to a consensus on what will happen, if no consensus can be reach majority will rule, if that can't happen then whoever's out makes the decisions

Sorry, but we cannot concentrate long enough to read really long replies or threads so don't think we're being rude if we don't.

Conflicts: The host would probably get confused if two voices in his/her head were arguing about some topic, and they might not know exactly where their own viewpoint is on the subject because of this. I've had cases where two arguing alters made my dissociation even worse, to the point where I had to interject and tell them to calm down.

So, manifestation: host's confusion, host's stress, increased dissociation (but everybody's different).

I have different spiritual values between my parts. One of them doesn't believe in anything, another one has a strong spiritual connection with nature, and so on. For the most part I can't really tell to whom all the different views belong to, but 'Cave' is the faithless part. I love his brutal yet intellectual realism.
Because of this I just have to tolerate everything. I'm sort of disappointed at myself for not being able to choose one conviction and stick to it. My Christian part is disappointed.
My family wasn't particularly religious but I was always interested in religions and the explanations they offer to people.

Well, while I don't have voices in my head arguing, I can most definitely say I feel conflicted about pretty much everything: religion, sex, romance, school, therapy, family, MY LEGAL NAME and what I want to be called(nothing to do with alters, long story), etc. So, what happens to me when there's a "disagreement?" Nothing. Cuz I don't give a $#%^ about all that much anymore so...yeah. I have a pretty ambivalent view of all this ATM. I can't decide, so I decide not to decide. I figure I'll die young anyways so why mess with worrying about my career, etc.? Yeah yeah I know my T said that's a horrible plan well it's not a plan it's just insight. Just how I see it.
