Strange Dream...

Postby DarkenedAngel » Sun Dec 04, 2011 6:37 pm

Thank you to those of you who answered my last post, and thank you for your time reading this. I know I can't help anyone else out much, but I just have so many questions and stuff about what's going on inside.

I had a very odd dream last night where I met and spoke to three of the four people I know of inside. It was really surreal, and Emmy (4) asked if she could sleep in the body. It woke me up and I felt myself grab a teddy, start sucking my thumb (which I haven't done in years) and fall back to sleep even though I wasn't actually doing it. I felt kinda crazy at the time, but when I woke up I was myself again with just a little voice inside saying "Thank you". Has anyone else had something like this happen?

I'd also like to ask, if there's anyone in the UK who can help me out, how I can go about seeing if someone can tell me if I have a disorder? Hopefully I'll be going to the doctors in January but I have no idea what to say.

Thanks again, and apologies for starting another thread without being able to help anyone else out.

It does feel surreal when that happens. Last night I had a very childlike voice go "hello" - but absolutely no idea who it was. Couldn't connect it to anyone I'd met so far. I've not really had a dream like that but I'm sure many people here can relate to it.

I'm also in the UK. When you say going to see a doctor do you mean your GP? Through that route you'd hopefully be referred to a local mental health clinic and then assessed by a psychologist, but this process can take a year.

How would you feel about getting the diagnosis done privately? If you can afford this (it is quite pricey) I would recommend looking into the Pottergate Centre in Norwich who can do the official diagnostic tests for dissociative disorders and help you on your way to getting the necessary help. This will obviously all take far less than a year.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks bourbon, but I'm totally screwed for money. They won't give me Job Seekers coz they say I'm 'too ill', but they turned me down for ESA coz I didn't have enough points. I appealed and they still said no, so I can't reapply until February or there's something new wrong with me. Of course I can't do that until someone gets their ass in gear and realises that me having panic attacks when I try and leave the house means I can't exactly work >_<

Yeah I mean my GP, she got a psych nurse to asses me but it didn't go well, can I ask to be assessed again or is that not allowed? If I can I'm going to have to make myself go out because the family was all around and I couldn't really answer truthfully because there's a lot of things they don't know.

I just wish someone would tell me I'm not crazy and help sort me out.

What is ESA? Have you tried DLA? Disability Living Allowance?

If you get assessed you do really need to be alone and not with family around. Of course that would change the dynamics and make certain things hard to say. I think it's worth trying your GP again, OR trying another one. You don't need to say straight out about DID/alters because that would unfortuantely in this country make them cough. But I'm sure there's other round about things you can say. Agoraphobia. Depression. Dissociation. Etc.

Good luck

ESA is Employment and Support Allowance, it's what they give people who can prove that they're unable to work due to a disability or health/mental health problem.

I shall try my best when I finally manage to get there and I'll just have to make myself go to an appointment not at the house. Raiyne thinks that would be the best thing to do as well. Yeah I understand what you mean about making people cough, a counsellor asked me once what went on inside my head, I tried to start to explain and he just had this bemused look on his face and said there was nothing he could do to help hehe.

Hi Dark,

We are based in the UK also when we went to our doctor about this kadssdak said he has felt odd for some time and has spoken to people and was told to speak to a professional who knows about MPD(only asked about MPD because the doctor wasn’t familiar with the term DiD) and could he recommend some one to talk to.

When we had been there he gave us the address of an office of some one to help us.
I really hope this helps Dark if you need to talk I’ll talk with you or any of your alters.

I'm in the US so I'll just address your sleep question. My core, infant Adam, doesn't need to ask if he can sleep in the body at night because that's his right now. He seems to love it and is usually thrilled when it's time for beddy-bye. He knows it's his time, and in this way he gets some guaranteed time every day. He has a shake toy and stuffed animals, which were things I simply had to "get over" as a middle-aged man. He's frantic if one of them is missing, likes falls off the bed or is hidden under the covers. Occasionally he's out of sorts or sad, but usually he makes an odd humming sound as he drops off to sleep which I interpret to mean "I'm feeling happy right now."

His being in the body is also a great sleeping pill. The body is relaxed, feels safe snug and secure, and his presence shuts off all sorts of adult ruminations that would normally happen about what we need to do at the job the next day or financial issues or whatever. The littles have all learned their own version of shaking the head in annoyance/warning if there's chatter inside when they're out. That's usually me thinking things to myself in the background and none of them like it. When they're in the body, it's their time and they don't want to be bothered by some stupid voice that they can't understand, all they seem to know who it is.

In short, letting him into the body for sleep has all sorts of benefits for all of us.
