Ones that come and go

Postby LittleRedDog » Wed Jun 29, 2011 12:38 pm

Sometimes in certain situations I will hear voices other than the normal alters. When I was a child, I remember hearing them chattering every night. I called them "the game" or "the weather report" and usually they spoke just low enough that I couldn't understand what they were saying and because when I first heard them I thought that my mother was watching television and my brother was playing a game. The chatter in and of itself does seem normal for people with DID, but every once in a while, I'll hear another voice. Like when my T suggested we try hypnosis and I was terrified. I heard a voice I'd never heard before say she would do the hypnosis in my stead. When I asked her who she was, she said my name. She chattered with the others and to me all day long, but then hasn't said much since. Was this some sort of semi-split? A fragment? An abreaction/flashback? An alter I had never met before who just crawled back into the woodwork? There have been a couple of other times this has happened and it's always confusing. Is my head more crowded than I think? Is this a reaction to stress around me? Anyone have any theories?

Different alters come out to handle different situations. This was apparently one thing that she felt capable of handling or maybe she just wanted to come out and talk to your T.

Oddly enough I have a terrified 4 year old come out at times like that, but the ISH is also there. I figure the little one just feels the need to try and communicate. She has not talked yet, but certainly interacts.

I hadn't thought about that. She definitely was very certain she could handle hypnosis and seemed, in general, a lot braver than I am. I suppose I'll just keep listening for if she has anything she wants to say.
