Sex addiction and DID

Hi

Not much info to go on there. If you're looking for info on sex addiction, I think you're looking in the wrong place...... wouldn't have a clue about it and I would guess neither would most in this forum. Sex is the last thing on our minds.

25 years ago is a long time to go without any type of therapy, but was obviously seeing someone in order to get a Dx of a personality disorder. Any idea which one? 25 years ago DID would have been called MPD (multiple personality disorder). What happened to cause therapy to stop??

There are several different kinds of personality disorders. This does not sound like DID to me despite what little detail you have provided.

In DID people have identities that they see/feel as separate from each other. Given the way he mixes "identities" up, and the sexual addiction, it makes me think of boundary problems-- more like borderline personality disorder.

As posted above, DSM-IV is a manual where symptoms of personality disorders are provided. I would review dissociative disorders, borderline disorder and narcissistic disorders.

well done I take my hat off to you. I was seeing someone for just over a year who showed some kind of weird symptoms like that, I couldnt really put my finger on it, he would act very masculine and a bit of a lad, then out of the blue be quite feminate? He was obsessed by sex any shape or form. I had a quick sneak on his pc and found some tranvestite pornography, but he was very secretive. My ex showed symptoms of bipolar disorder and got diagnosed but untreated it. I started reading about borderline and narcassist personality traits which could be in addition with bipolar apparantly, the one is just enough really lol. I cant believe that you have lived through this the last 25 yrs! Has he ever admitted this to u and been straight up or have you found this out secretly? Some things are not straight forward in diagnosing, it takes time but in time can piece the jigsaw together. Have you noticed his relatives older or bro or sisters showing any unusual traits? Please read about soma-narcassists and personality disorders this could give u a bit of insight. Just remember this can have a serious emotional effect on you and look after yourself, please try to get some form of councilling, if he will not, never mind, think about yourself and well-being. take care hope this could be of assistance

Is there really such thing as a sex addition unless, you can't be faithful while married or in a committed relationships, or some prositute but that's usually about force and control.

I've discovered I have a over sexualized alter has had and will do stuff that maybe a little more freeing. She has been pulling at me for males that haven't showed interested if they have I didn't think it was ginuine interest. Internal conflict. Young alter and younger twenties (moral christian keep her/him for coming out that much). The young alter "im hungry and bunch of other stuff cna't remeber" body memory flash back. I'll remember we just had sex one day ago. I'm loyal remember lol.. I'm a little afraid of her because she was used to our secret as tweenager 1989 but is now more out there (or want to be), but I'm afraid to let her be out there that much! I'm single divorced so what is the point of the conflict. I guess diseases pregnancy etc.
