I think most people would answer somewhere in between, instead of all the way towards "Always". However, there are some questions that I can answer 100% of the time to (1 and 11), because it happens every time I do those things.

I haven't heard of the DDIS, do you have a link for it?
ZeldaZonk wrote:Do people agree that an answer of "always" to any of these questions would be inaccurate?
For me there aren't many of the questions where I could honestly answer always. But that seems to be the nature of dissociative disorders, in a way.

Could you explain how you got your score for this test? I didn't understand how to do that, I just added all of my numbers together for all of the questions I was able to answer (I took the whole thing). I ended up with a 185 but I don't think that's how it's supposed to be scored, so I don't know what to make of that.
Thanks for the link! It asked a lot of very good questions!

Hi Katariina,
The scoring is explained at the bottom of the page, it's a bit complex.
Best, Zel.

It is a benchmark. A year from now you might score yourself again and see a difference. Hopefully the score will be lower then, because you have learned new, less dissociative ways of coping. Also, if you are in therapy are about to start therapy, your DES score is a good conversation starter. You'll want to a therapist who knows what the DES is and how to use it.
