The test seems to focus more on the "dissociative" part than on the "identity" part. So, we may not dissociate much, but we're very much a "we."

MDs

Erm....we dissociate a crap-ton more than we thought when we posted this four and a half years ago. Though some in our system dissociate far more than others.

The test for DID can also fail badly. You view on your symptoms can change dramatically. Feelings when you are sure you made a mistake with having any problems and are actually healthy, are normal in DID, if you test yourself then, you may not recognize your symptoms. You may not know them, if you have present day amnesia, and especially so if you have amnesia of amnesia.

We agree this 100 percent. Which is why we take our score with a very large grain of salt.

MDs, quote from us from august last year:

Floralie wrote:Result was how I expected it to be. So DID is possible, but it's true I don't really have many of those symptoms. I have parts, but they don't take control to the point of amnesia and there were a lot of questions about that. I am different with different people tho, and in different situations. But it's not that way different anyone would think I am someone else, it's more like a versions of me, in a different mood or role. But I've never been called moody, it can also be just a normal social roles, not parts at all. I can't tell. There is no feeling of changing.

I scored 33 then, about the same now. But now I can tell I DO have amnesia, and amnesia of amnesia, and am able to recognize passive influence pretty well many times. Not always, but I do know what it is and how it works and realize who is close to me and when.

It feels sometimes like there's no progress, but reading now all things I wrote when I started in here, there's a huge difference.

Thanks, Floralie. We too know that we've made progress, although we've been in a very painful phase for a while, and it's easy to feel discouraged. At least we've had a very good T for a very long time, and we're grateful for that.

I use it reasonably regularly for years to monitor myself. I saw the post about it here and thought I'll take it, about time. I scored 47 which was higher than my last one about a month ago but I'm not surprised.

That's not what I'm posting here about. I used Google as usual to find one, it doesn't matter to me which site because they're the same questions and I get a number at the end that tells me how I am in last couple of weeks and I can compare it.

This time a site came up that I hadn't used before. The site belongs to a woman in my country who has DID, is a therapist, runs seminars and lectures here, has written a book.

That's great. It's exactly what I'd been wanting to find for a while. I hadn't particularly got around to looking due to my own barriers, fear etc but it popped up.

I did the test and another one about somatic something and got my numbers.

However this site, as with some others, you can add an email and details. It's a charity, it offers free support as well as listing DID friendly therapists. It's in my country, the woman sounds great who runs it.

But I'm too frightened and holding back to put my details, to look more into it. It's annoying.

Does it REQUIRE that information to use the scale test thingy? Cuz THAT I wouldn't do either... but lets face it, most of these groups or sites are charity-driven and NEED that income to survive... so I don't MIND them asking... but I don't wanna be pressured or have it like demanded... THAT is scary to us, too... especially since that kinda like research is HOW ppl found out about us in the first place and like blew up our lives.

I tested, the information is not required to take the quizz.

I scored 53 by the way, but some items can very well be caused by autism (like, not recognizing people / not remembering people) than by dissociation. I'm bad at remembering / recognizing faces and people.

I remember taking it before being aware of not being alone, and scoring way higher on the dissociation. I guess it means I'm doing better! Being aware makes things less scary for me. Almost warm and fuzzy, since Theia makes sure only people who are aware they are part of a system and willing to help with the outside stuff, can reach consciousness. Makes it easier for everybody, less scary for the unaware ones. We are very very lucky to have Theia.

We took this and got a 41... interesting.... posting in this color because we took it as Sammie. About the same as when we last took it as Snags. Even let snaggles downgrade some of our answers. Not that it means anything, just that it's interesting.

Re: Dissociative Experiences Scale

Kept seeing this and thought I better give it a go. I ended up with 66 but firstly I have been in hospital recently, secondly I haven't been in the body for years so nevermind "I'm driving and I don't know how I got there" I didn't know where the hell I was the other day, someone directed me internally and I was 3mins from the house, I don't know these back roads. So I'm not really surprised to score high. Alot of stuff is kicking in, memory bank stuff, but it's obviously taking quite a bit of time. I can drive good but I learnt Do not let Lilly drive, I let her drive for 5 mins to pull the car out of a space and I was shouting the whole time "noooo you're gonna hit that tree. Noooo your judging this completely wrong" so I'm driving, she can drive the things we do because she has more enjoyment out of them but I'm driving the car. None of the stuff in the house is familiar, places that others frequented I see in my minds eye because they show me but they're foreign in being there because I haven't been there. People they know, I can completely blah that - it's a piece of piss, good at body language, good at pleasantries. Haven't even needed specific info on neighbors or people I've bumped into because firstly I do not care and secondly I can chat to a stranger like a best friend so it's easy. Not making good first impressions at the so called support group but f those guys. Nothing written around here is mine, but it's useful. Sharing with Lilly has put a bit more annoyance because she's a procrastinator and has no sense of responsibility but it'd be lonely without her and empty so I'd rather have her here than remember every minute of every day which I was before she showed up. Pluses and minuses, swings and roundabouts. So 66, yeah it's a high score but that'll lower over time of being around. Paul.

It's hard to answer to all of these since I have amnesia of amnesia and doubt some memories...
But I've done this twice and got 38-49.

Hi,

The DES is really weird for us. When Host looks at the questions he kind of freaks out then goes into denial then checks stuff so we don't look multiple. If I take it it's like 'yup yup yup that one too' and we score pretty high. Our problem with tests is who's taking them and how they feel about being multiple.

Actually it's ANY test. School was like - Oh sh*t! a MATH quiz! Go get Colin!

Iain
Iain - 14, Colin - 17, Evan - 7, Cody - 16, & Host - the adult out front

When they say 'be yourself',
which one do they mean?
