I scored 37%.

I think other alters would score differently, although I tried to incorporate the memories/info that I have access to.

I took it this morning and got a 83.

Made everything more real because so many questions i was like "yes ofcourse" "well yeah, all the time." As if they were completely normal. They are for me i guess. Such a long road for me in the future.

Thanks for posting the link.

Hiyas :)

I just took the DES and scored a 54

every time I take it I get between 49 and 59 so 54 is moderate hehe

Some people sometimes get confused by what they mean by "some people sometimes".

any time I take it I pretty much get 0% or 100% of the time depending on the question. Very few questions have somewhere in between.

I mean yes I was finding things in my house that I don't remember buying, clothes etc. But hey I had a room mate :)

the ones I always say 100% of the time are like these...

"Some people have the experience of driving or riding in a car or bus or subway and suddenly realizing that they don’t remember what has happened during all or part of the trip. How often does it happen to you?"

"Some people find that sometimes they are listening to someone talk and they suddenly realize that they did not hear part or all of what was said. How often does it happen to you?"

"Some people have the experience of feeling that their body does not seem to belong to them. How often does it happen to you?"

"Some people have the experience of sometimes remembering a past event so vividly that they feel as if they were reliving that event. How often does it happen to you?"

"Some people find that when they are watching television or a movie they become so absorbed in the story that they are unaware of other events happening around them. How often does it happen to you?"

"Some people find that they become so involved in a fantasy or daydream that it feels as though it were really happening to them. How often does it happen to you?"

I think you get the picture.

It's been this way forever.

the few things that are somewhere in the middle are like these...

"Some people have the experience of not being sure whether things that they remember happening really did happen or whether they just dreamed them. How often does it happen to you?"

"Some people find that in one situation they may act so differently compared with another situation that they feel almost as if they were two different people. How often does it happen to you?"

"Some people sometimes find that they cannot remember whether they have done something or have just thought about doing that thing (for example, not knowing whether they have just mailed a letter or have just thought about mailing it). How often does it happen to you?"

the rest seem to be like a 1 to 3 or zero %

I have an Interview from a year ago with Dr Frank Putman and Dr Bessel Van Der Kolk talking about how the "Dissociative Experience Scale", came about since Frank Putman was one of the authors of it. And he was saying how there were no screening tests for Dissociation at the time and so many of his patients had Trauma and Dissociation symptoms so they had to create it using different clusters of symptoms. He said one of the most interesting things about it was the reactions that the people taking it was. They felt as if it was the first time anyone had asked them about things that they routinely experienced and yet was ignored or never brought up. He was saying they felt "Understood" for the first time after taking it in a large way.

I love how Teenagers score higher than Schizophrenia! lol

Average DES Scores in research
General Adult Population 5.4
Anxiety Disorders 7.0
Affective Disorders 9.35
Eating Disorders 15.8
Late Adolescence 16.6
Schizophrenia 15.4

Borderline Personality Disorder 19.2
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder 31
Dissociative Disorder NotOtherwise Specified (OSDD) 36
Dissociative Identity Disorder (MPD) 48

Also this is very educational for "Professionals" because most are extremely ignorant about Dissociative Disorders in general. They often confuse "Dissociation" with "Psychosis". In the statistical average listed above , Bipolar and Schizophrenia score in the 9 -15 range while PTSD and Dissociative Disorders" generally score much higher. Translating to "Mood and Psychotic Disorders" don't dissociate as much as healthy Teenagers.

Some people sometimes phrasing questions in this manner can be very confusing or vague. I've taken this a few times in sessions with T's because there are a few questions that if you misunderstand just one question it can skew the results quite a bit. The sad thing is that every T I took it with had no idea how to interpret the questions either. In some cases it could either be "None" or "Always" depending on how you understand the question?

"Some people have the experience of finding new things among their belongings that they do not remember buying. How often does it happen to you?"

That one used to happen to me all the time. Like constantly! So do I answer "100%" or something like that or "0%" (none) because I lived with my partner? I mean I would have to guess that they brought the stuff home because I don't remember getting it. So I would either answer None or always depending on how I considered it.

And likewise I would buy new things and as soon as they got home they vanished. I live alone now so is a lot easier to answer the questions like that hehe. I have more issues with stuff vanishing than turning up hehe.

This is a good teaser for the massive "Multi-demensional Index for Dissociation" (Mid-6) which is like 218 questions covering a much greater spectrum of symptoms and experiences.

That just triggered the heck out of me because I just requested last month the copy from another place where I took it and they claim they don't have it. It's well documented in my records over 5 weeks of me taking it in sessions and such so I have legal proof in their own words that they do. Grrrrrr

Hi,

When we get a super low score we know Host's denial is working really really good. 8)

DES - Maybe 'Denial Effectiveness Scale'.

Iain
Iain - 14, Colin - 17, Evan - 7, Cody - 16, & Host - the adult out front

When they say 'be yourself',
which one do they mean?
