Thank you. I have a score of only 20. Since I know where these episodes
started... when I was only 4 or 4 1/2 and left alone, unable to untie my snowsuit hood
and feeling like I couldn't breathe... this has helped me support the little girl
in me who was so frightened that afternoon.
I had therapy a number of years ago where I brought this up. We spent all of 30 mins.
on it because it was no longer an issue really. I do not suffer from anxiety or panic
attacks apart from very briefly and very seldom when I am in front of a mirror.
Twice so far this year, and my remedy is to step away from the mirror and talk to
myself. I no longer have to turn on the radio to ground myself as I used to. I also don't get dizzy
any more.
It's quite amazing how one incident can have such a powerful effect on a person. This was a
minor incident in the grand scheme of things, but it helps me better understand at least a bit, those who have had major trauma and numerous incidents of abuse and/or of feeling alone, abandoned and helpless.
How are you doing Una?

PS. How does a PM reply to a PM message get onto a thread??? Now that is unnerving!

I got 64 today. Honestly, I'm surprised it's dropped given that I've felt like I've been particularly dissociated lately. I've met my next door neighbours twice this week and I still don't know their names even though I know they've said both times.

I took this a while back. I think my score was 48, if I remember correctly. Might take again sometime to be more sure.
Also took the PID-5 a while back and got these averages:
Negative affect: 1.7
Detachment: 2.6
Antagonism: 1.8
Disinhibition: 1.9
Psychoticism: 2.6
Overall not too bad, I think.

Retook it. Another 48.
Is this (and/or my PID-5 score bad, you know, compared to "normal" people?)

I don't know about PID but in general whatever you score on the test is not "bad" it just is what it is. It's not inherently bad or good unless you assign it that value. If you are finding your dissociative symptoms troublesome and think of that as bad, then maybe you'll see your score as "bad". But if you think your dissociation has a protective feature that you like, maybe you'd see it as "good". Really the only thing the test can tell you is that you have more dissociative symptoms than "normal" but that doesn't actually describe whether that is a "bad" thing or not.

I made a thread for the PID-5 here:
DID Forum: PID-5SelfStranger2, there is a graph of DES scores in a general population (of college students in Canada) here:
The Colin A. Ross Institute: Dissociative Experiences Scale. Your current DES score is high enough that I expect you are in a lot of distress (same for your PID-5 score, but I'll go into that in the other thread). I know I was in severe distress when my score was that high!
This too shall pass.
Dx DID older woman married w kids.
0 Una, host + 3, 1, 5. 1 animal.
2 older man. 3 teen girl.
4 girl behind amnesia wall. 5 girl in love.
