I was particularly surprised that the "realizing that you didn't catch anything that someone just said to you" could be DID-related. It happens to me a lot (if I saw people on a daily basis, it would be several times a day). And it's not just about speech - sometimes I "register" something, but only notice it much later (and when I notice it consciously, I remember that I registered it already earlier).

EDIT: although maybe with some things SPD could overlap with the milder DID symptoms...

I clicked 'never' on that one as I have a moderate hearing loss. I've had some times where I've clearly lost a whole block of time and I'm just suddenly in a completely different part of the conversation like I've been flashed back in. It doesn't really happen at that severity anymore/much but I do mishear things and very, very often take a while to register something. But I figured given the former, obvious example I'd be confounding my results if I left it in. Shame I couldn't remove that one from the scoring.

Sounds familiar :? I don't think I forget what I have said myself (or for a split second I might, 'cause for that very short moment I might completely forget what we were talking about), but several sentences of someone else's speech could just... be wiped out. And it's different from just not paying attention (which I could pin on my ADD). Often I feel like I paid attention, and still missed it all.

Checking in. The first time I took the DES, back in 2011, I scored 47. Then as my therapy helped me develop more internal communication and be more aware of my amnesia, my DES score shot up into the 60's. As still more therapy helped me reduce the amnesia, depersonalization, and derealization, my score went down to the 30's. Today I am pleased to report I scored 19. Wow!

That was last year. I took it again today and got 61. Wow. I have been under a lot of stress so maybe I'm dissociating more than usual because of it.
I have ADHD. Possibly have another mental disorder but am not certain.

We scored an 88 today. We were only diagnosed a couple months ago, and have been in extremely bad home situations as of late. Dissociation is almost constant.

We scored 18.

*shrug*

The test seems to focus more on the "dissociative" part than on the "identity" part. So, we may not dissociate much, but we're very much a "we."

I got 54 and answered on the basis of how I have been in the last few years and with the view of the other parts in mind
If it was a different part of me taking this test I might score far more or far less. One part Woukd deny all of it.
Might do it again in a few weeks and answer it based on cuter rent experience.

I just took the test and scored 60, I often don't know family members or friends until we start talking. Than someone lets me know who it is. I have had people tell me they know me but I don't know them. I always talk out loud to myself in fact now that I am retired I find that I am talking to myself out loud in public. I am out of practice keeping the conversation in my head. I believe I am better off knowing that I have parts instead of thinking I was losing my mind. It can be exhausting thought, especially when someone is having a difficult time.
