I'm new here and saw your post. I'm "non DID" and took the test a few minutes ago. I scored a 7.

I scored a 62. I have taken the test before and score in the 60's usually. I wonder how that will change as I become more aware of the others and what is happening with me. I just discovered that I may have DiD a couple of months ago.

I got 64, but I'm not so sure on the selection of some of the questions. It seems like I answered very low on the first half, and then drastically higher on the second half.

Re: Dissociative Experiences Scale

I answered honestly for how things have been the past 6 months or so and I got a 10. So this scale doesn't pick up my DID so much because I learned how to 'put it aside' when I need to and lately I've needed to for work. If they'd asked questions like the following, which are probably on some other tests, I would have shown up:
* I have been diagnosed with DID by multiple professionals and am convinced the diagnosis is correct
* I have some flashbacks and emotional overwhelms which clearly indicate past trauma
* I sense the presence of others inside me many times during the day and believe they are not me
* Multiple alters cooperatively take over my body daily, each with a different personality, name, etc.
* Memory for the past is growing worse, not better
* Sometimes memory for recent events is difficult to maintain
* Sometimes I notice things bought by others that I don't remember buyIng -- but I do remember an alter buying them
* I have conversations daily with somebody inside
* Sometimes somebody feels very detached from life (yup, we all mostly do but from sadness rather than dissociation)

Dissociation happens but is infrequent and its effect brief. I'm only posting this in case there are others like me out there who score low and want to tell themselves they're fine. I haven't lost time in years and somehow learned to move beyond the common occurrences of DID such as depersonalizeation and derealization, which are low for me. But my life in many ways is still crippled by the abuse and it's overall confusing, even knowing all that I do know.
Dx = DID. My blog. My personal Periodic Table of 78 alters.

Johnny-Jack: thank you for that information! I usually score roughly 17. Slightly higher than average, but still not 'enough'. I always thought the DES wasn't a very good instrument to make sure one doesn't have DID (yes, it's a screening instrument, but it should at least make sure people with DID aren't excluded!).

Anyway, good to know I'm not the only one and this doesn't exclude dissociative disorders, even DID.
Dx: PDD-NOS. Tested for dissociative disorders and PTSD but they say the symptoms are attributable to PDD-NOS.
