If I were in your shoes, I would tell the woman that she is an incompetent and uneducated therapist and she should be ashamed of herself for her lack of effort she puts towards her job. To think she is licensed with that kind of behavior. A lazy person will ask the patient what they have tried, and expect them to answer their own questions. An even lazier person would utter the words, "I don't know what to do with you." It's not the patient at that point, it's the therapist that has no better education to think that maybe, just maybe, if she worked harder at what she did, she could give you an answer.

Don't waste your time on this person.

Katariina, thank you.
I agree, she is incompetent; however, she's the best of the bad bunch of Psychiatrists I've seen in that mental health team since 1998 (there have been three others). She just seems stupid, whereas the others seemed to get a perverse kick out of seeing just how far they could push the boundaries. Within the NHS, there seems to be very little in the way of monitoring how (or if) those in mental health 'care' work (or don't).
They've tried to return my call (from last night) 4 times today. I couldn't face answering the phone, so I've written a letter, raising these points and asking if my appointment was being recorded. So, I'll either get a reply, or she'll speak to me about it in 3 months time.
Unless I come into a huge amount of £, or move house to another health trust, there's little option but to put up and shut up.

She shouldn't be asking you to tell her how you can help yourself, it's her JOB. I'm glad you can find help here, even if you're not getting much from your counseller.
You're not pathetic for being paranoid, when this woman clearly doesn't seem to be doing her job properly as it is. I think i'd find it hard to be trusting in your situation too. With your counseller you are supposed to feel comfortable and safe, not paranoid and uncared for.
I agree with Jack, she sounds like a waste of time. Sounds like you've had really bad luck with psychiatrists. I'm glad you wrote a letter, it'll be good for you to let them know your feelings on paper and get the clarification you need to know that you weren't being recorded.
Really hope you get this problem sorted!
