The Creation of Alters?

Postby LunaSyko » Sat Feb 26, 2011 1:51 am

Hey all.

So, this question has been eating at me for awhile, but I haven't really addressed it because it seems pretty obvious.

So, can new Alters be.. "Created".. even though there's no 'severe' trauma?

For example. Kendra was the product of some things that I vaguely remember. But, the memory is choppy and obviously missing pieces. So, she was "created" as normal Alters should be. Well, Lilly, my favorite Alter, was actually an imaginary friend when I was a young child (Least that's how I saw her) and she just came back. Maybe she was an Alter then, and the memory lapses just didn't register in my mind, but as far as I know she wasn't, but now she is. Kylee was a product of a series of metal break downs in a row, I think. And I'm not even sure where Max came from. Lilly and Kylee are also far weaker when it comes to control. All it takes is a gentle nudge and I can regain myself. Whereas with Kendra, I can't fight my way back, and most of the time I don't even know she's taken control of me.

So, as you can see, except for Kendra, my other Alters weren't born from trauma (As far as I'm concerned) and I was wondering if that's how it normally plays out. Or, were they always there but just now deciding to show? Does that mean I have others waiting in line to show up? Ugh... I just have such a hard time wrapping my mind around all of this.

Sorry for the stupid question ^^'''

Hi Kendra,
Good question. As always, my reply is just my opinion. Please never let a post influence you in a negative way.
Multiples can create new alters. In my experience it is uncommon, though. And usually newly created alters know why they have been made and usually the system knows too. But, it is common for new A's to come forward over time.
How the others came to be? Once a person is multiple (still in childhood), they have an ability other people don't have. Now, they can create alters more easily, even when trauma events are milder. Such as when a child is left alone or locked up. It is still a trauma, and the A is still filling a certain need, even though the trauma might be less than some other ones. Every part is necessary to be complete.
Remember, Every one of you is important. Every one is valuable. With very few exceptions, Every one is good. (most alters, especially children don't believe this)
ALL multiples are amazing!

Once you've split, you can keep on creating more alters, if there is a need for them. It doesn't need to be something horribly traumatic. It's possible to have alters that already existed, who you just aren't aware of, but you can also create new ones. And it wasn't a stupid question :)

Alright, thanks guys for answering.
Even after nearly two years, I'm still trying to wrap my mind around this. Kinda hard without a Therapist, you know.
Anyways. Thanks again for clearing that up. It really helped me, somewhat, understand why Max is even here.
