I feel unsafe

Postby salted lipstick » Mon Feb 07, 2011 6:51 am

I had to phone the police a minute ago because there was a man creeping around in my back garden. They came and chased him down the street I think.

I'm feeling really unsafe and shaken at the moment. I just wanted to seek some comfort here...

Oh, no :? I hope the police took care of it, and you're safe, now.

I'm sure the police have caught him and he won't be back again. Most people like that don't appreciate the cops very much and will try to stay away from any neighborhoods that hyper watch themselves like you just did. These people generally prey on sleepier areas that don't pay as much attention. After all, how good is the loot if it's weighing them down as they run from cops time after time?

I'm sure this is a little late in the day to be of any real help, but just in case, I'll suggest something that helps me sleep at night when I'm being paranoid about someone coming in the middle of the night to attack me {I'm silly like that}. I sleep with a hatchet or a really BIG and SHARP kitchen knife. Right under my pillow. Maybe even another one nestled under my blankets somewhere. It's like my favorite blankie :P . If I'm feeling really weirded out though, I'll go over to my friend's house. Of course, he's a guy who moves stuff into and out of people's houses at work all the time, so I generally find him to be most secure form of body guard around. And worst case scenario, they'll be focusing on him (as he beats them up) so I have time to make a getaway or at least make into the kitchen where I have a cast iron skillet stashed :mrgreen: . All in all though, no one ever comes and gets me in the end, but clutching that hatchet/knife handle makes me feel safer so I can sleep. Hope you feel better and nothing like that EVER happens again, and with any luck, hopefully it was just some silly teenage girl's boyfriend sneaking into her room to say hi and not have her dad find out {and thus beat the crap out of him :P }.

Thanks Canolime. I feel a little better today. I was surprised that the police didn't ever come to check if I was ok. :(

Thanks cocoanutmonkey. The bit above made me smile. :D
I like your hatchet/knife idea. I might try that. It'd make me feel safer I think. Unfortunately I live in a high crime area even though there is a police station not that far away. It's not the first time I've felt unsafe at home after being broken into four times and having men sneaking round in the back garden another three. :?
Yeah I definitely think it's time to use that hatchet/knife idea. It made me feel lots better just reading your post. Thank you.

I'm sorry to hear that you live in that kind of an area :( Hope the knife of doom helps (glad it made you smile too), and don't underestimate the power of a cast iron skillet. They're HEAVY and will do mega awesome damage to any not smart enough to flee immediately {but then again, I'm the type to go chasing after someone if they actually succeeded in riling me up that much :roll: } {at least it's a funny image for the neighbors: a 5'0" girl running after some huge burly man armed with nothing more than a cooking pan and shrieking obscenities all the way :P }

I'm glad you're feeling a little better.

Well, that stinks :| Maybe they were busy or something, but it would have been nice if they could have checked on you.

Silly me, I forgot to add what canolime just said. But then again I'm not a fan of police; I don't like that they don't do their jobs
very well, like returning to assure you that he was caught {at least warn you}.

:oops: :lol: Don't know what to tell you... If it makes you feel better, I've never had to use it...And, also, my friends that surprise me end up with a startled "eek!" not a fist in their face :P
